Yep, just felt like saying how stupid things in Melbourne can be and the flow on effect to behaviour seen in bodies like AFL.
Sydney has its faults, no doubt, but both Storm and the no nonsense approach by NRL are refreshing .
The comparison is stark.

Re animals inheriting the Earth....how much more lovely would this planet be without humans.
We are the most murderous, destructive, cruel and selfish species there is.
All the creatures on this planet would love to be rid of us. Just saying.
i dont follow the NRL, cos it is a stupid sport, but snippets i see are always about how unfairly, corruptly even, the Storm are treated. or whinging about ref decisions etc.

then you say humans are murderers- true, but appear to be bagging vegans, and those who care about the environment at the same time??

pretty much all decisions can be justified- except Selwood getting off last week- he tried to crunch the guys head.
but compare Hawkins to Bolton. Hawkins gets off, Bolton doesnt.
Dangerfield in the GF, to Greene. one gets off one doesnt.

the list could go on and on. the "luck" just always seems to go their way.
It cannot be luck.

Just shows how incompetent they are, has taken 10 years and still no flag.

I'm not convinced that the AFL consciously goes out to favour Geelong, but the number of Geelong people involved at various levels of the AFL and what their players get away with certainly leaves the AFL open to just this sort of accusation. Ablett Jr a couple of years ago, Danger, Selwood, Hawkins - they just seem to get away with so much more than players from other teams do.

The Shocking introduced stand rule absolutely favours Geelong

Storm are not badly done by. Refereeing in NRL is good.
A high quality game is good to watch.

Not bagging vegans at all. I wish I liked vegetables enough to be one.
Point was that city folk,especially Melbournians are pedantic and obsessive about multiple things, often trivial and self indulgent.

Humans kill for food and we have to accept that as a fact of existence.
I was referring to destruction of animal habitat and killing needlessly ie sport or just inhumane behaviour. That's the human behaviour I am bagging and dislike.

It's fine not to agree or feel the same.
Some of my comments are tongue in cheek .

I'm gobsmacked but sadly not surprised Hawkins got off.
Not only did he knock the defenceless defender out, it also changed the course of the game late when it was there to be won.
Absolutely should have copped at least a week given his history.

What I don’t understand is that the dangerous tackle Hawkins employed is specifically listed as reportable. See below the written rule, the highlighted bits describe exactly what Hawkins did. Arms pinned, driven into ground with excessive force. Weak as *smile* MRO.

3. Rough Conduct (Dangerous Tackles)
The application of a tackle may be considered Rough Conduct which is unreasonable in the circumstances. In determining whether the application of a tackle constitutes a Reportable Offence and whether the offence is Careless or Intentional, without limitation, regard may be had to the following factors, whether:
» The tackle consists of more than one action, regardless of whether the Player being tackled is in possession of the ball;
» The tackle is of an inherently dangerous kind, such as a spear tackle or a tackle where a Player is lifted off the ground;
» The Player being tackled is in a vulnerable position (e.g. arm(s) pinned) with little opportunity to protect himself;
» An opponent is slung, driven or rotated into the ground with excessive force.

The most surprising thing is that any of the gutless footy media are mentioning the inconsistency.

How many Geesoock players have been suspended this season, very few, how many have been fined, very few. How many have NOT been cited, or sanctioned in any way VERY MANY.

It's not a conspiracy they're just very clumsy. :bash :bash :vomit

I asked a similar question, where can we find a list of players suspended/fined by club?

@LeeToRainesToRoach any idea?

And very caring of their opponent.
Joke.

Pinning two arms, from behind is dangerous , especially if the tackler weighs many kilos more than you and lunging at you.

Pinning one arm you may have a chance to brace for contact to the turf .

The notion that there are players , according to some media outlets and commentators , that players are anticipating the tackler and then turning to have contact on the side of the head when it hits the ground. I can’t believe this. Hitting your head on the turf even on the side can knock you out or concuss you.

MRP what’s the point when the tribunal overturns most of his findings. It’s a tough job made harder by the tribunal. No wonder there is inconsistencies all round.
