More on Morton

Dont know about that i saw a couple of missed tackles that he should have stuck on the weekend ???

Sorry, I would call that weak not soft. If that's your definition of soft then maybe you have a case. Soft to me is backing out of a marking contest because you'll get crunched, or diving on a player rather than the ball, or not going for that smother in case you get kicked in the head or the ball hits you in the face.

When a player is running at him and he carn't stick a tackle that is soft . Didn't want to get hurt ,that is soft!!!!

I don't think that's how it works.

their are many ways to be soft

your josh hunt type which is ducking your head in a marking contest etc and then your cleve hughes type which is running to where the ball aint etc

morton is your aaron fiora type soft, got taught at an early age to stay outside because the team needed his run but when it comes to the big time has no idea how to win his own footy and doesnt know the meaning of the word "contest"

I don't mean to be rude ,irock, but have you seen Morton play?

I think he's going to be a very good footballer FoxinSox.

Phantom likened him to a Kouta type, thats not far off.A player drafted recently he's similar too is Ben Reid.Interesting a few have said we should take him off the Pies.I think Morton weill be better than him.

i disagree with alot of the intimations that he couldn't become a key position player. He's quick, can take a pack mark and is an excellent kick. Can play either end of the ground.

Anybody who saw his last game at Casey fields wouldn't say he is like Oaktree Nichols. He's much more a footballer than that.

I remember similar things(he's soft and outside) said about Pav and Franklin.

NB.Just to be clear before anyone picks me up(someone always seems to)I'm not saying he will be the next Pav or Kouta or Franklin. These are just players he reminds me of.

I am just so sick of the X facotr types that I am just dreading Morton. Cotchin too me looks to bein the Adam Cooney class and I just would hate to see us pass that up for someone who might be 15% better five years down the road.

Thanks for the run-down Heave-Ho. Who would you take, Morton or Cotchin?

Leaning slightly to Cotchin. There isn't alot in it,I don't mind either way.

Maybe this ankle is significant,I don't know.It comes on top of a shoulder.

I don't know which way the're going to go.CC reckons he does.

Yeah CC, spill the beans is it the local boy or the WA kid?

Cotchin's is an ankle ligament injury. West Coast is into him bigtime and spoke to him this morning. West Coast know RFC is taking Morton.

Okay. I am less educated this year about the juniors than I have been in years. I have never seen Cotchin or Morton play so I can only go on feedback from people who have.

Cotchin worries me because he went missing at the Championships and has had the odd injury concern. I don't care that Cotchin was either tagged or injured (depending on who you listen to) in the Champs, being a #2 rated player he should have done better. If you are fit enough to take the field, and you are an elite player, you are fit enough to have an impact.
My question (or concern) about Cotchin is that he plays a fair bit as a small forward as well as a midfielder. Would he play as a permanent midfielder in the AFL.

With Morton, my concern is that I have heard he is soft, outside and not really a midfielder or a KPP. If he is going to end up as a wingman then I wouldn't want him but, again, I am only going on the hearsay of plenty of people whose football credentials I would seriously question. The comparison's to Pavlich and Kouta are encouraging but both of those guys have ended up as strong boys. Does Morton look like he will easily fill out too as he is very slim now?

I am on Cotchin by a lot shorter then I was four weeks ago.
