Maurice Rioli Jnr

Being a lone pressure forward isnt helping him either letrs be honest.
What pressure forward ?
Zero tackles tonight
Trails his opponent to the ball
That’s not pressure
Seriously runs around like a headless chook 10 metres behind his opponent as he can’t read the game or ball drop
Seriously !!!

That's the nub of it. He chases people down when they should need to chase him. On top of that he can't hit a target by foot, even a teammate in space 25 metres away.

He's looked best at VFL when played on the ball. Send him back there to get some leather and build his confidence and game, but for 2023 at least the argument is settled in favour of Mansell.

I understand. Stig calm down man :mhihi

Just saying the side needs more than one pressure forward and as such Id be promoting Mansell and debuting Coulthard next week.

Thought he would have taken another step up this season. Reckon he’s gone backwards.

It’ll put the spotlight on mini as well and the usual morons will ask questions about buy in/ respect/morale/ discipline etc not a good look at all.
Exactly FB. McQualter will have to discuss that during the week and defend him, and get around him and downplay it.

When MRJ could have just taken the phone.

Shocking look. Especially when he's so noticeably out of form.

Pressure forwards that have no forward nous and don’t trouble the scoreboard are overrated
Think we can safely guarantee that there's no other defensive-minded small forward in the league who haven't kicked a goal in the last 7 games. Defenders have no concerns running off him as he does no damage going the other way.

Mini says he wasn't the caller to Mozza and said he'll have to look into what happened. He understands kids sooking when subbed off as he did the same when playing. Nothing in it. Just learning lessons for Mozz. Starting to engage the dud journos.

Spend the rest of the year in the VFL playing midfield.
Let’s see if there’s anything worth persevering with on ball because he’s not skilful enough to play small forward.
A change of roll is worth considering.

More midfield time. Get him more involved in the play.

Not the first n certainly won't be the last player to crack the *smile* n refuse the phone during a game, nothing more than fluff n *smile* all the carry on over it.
On the other hand though, form and skill is an entirely different conversation n sadly Moju has bugger all of either happening at the moment. Young fella needs to be shipped back to the magoos for the rest of the season n simply be allowed to play some free wheeling footy, without the heat n scrutiny of AFL.
Play some games, have some fun and put in a big pre season, then have another look next year.

What was that story with Jack about ~ 10 years ago? Did the same to Dimma when subbed off.

Wasn’t a great look.

Not RFC like.

I posted when it happened but wasn’t sure I saw things as they unfolded.

There has been a few instances this year with some of our young players.

What’s happened to the kid?

Is he contracted for 24? Just asking.

It’s like he is:

- fighting for a new contract.

- unsure what his role is.

- is there enough on field guidance?

- a lot of running where the ball ain’t.

- the big one for me. The pressure of being the son of a great. Maurice Rioli. Seems to be way in heavy on his young shoulders and mind.

Just a disappointing look for him & the club.

Worked a few AFL and VFL benches, the amount of times something like that happens would surprise you, and not in a good way
