Dude, you get called out for your behaviour and you turn on someone else and try and drag them down with you. Sad.

Re: Welcome Matthew McDonough at pick 42

McDonough's AFL Stats below - I couldn't find anywhere which games he was sub, or subbed off. But considering some of those games were bad losses for the team, his numbers are not horrible for a player with 9 career games.

Re: Welcome Matthew McDonough at pick 42

Madonna is an interesting case. As you say his numbers are not bad.

We are into the grey area of what coaches know vs what we know but clearly there is an issue.. He's doing something they don't like or not doing something they like.

Just what that is, I'm not sure!

Re: Welcome Matthew McDonough at pick 42

Yeah,i'm confused as well.

Do people think Dimma is treating him like McGovern in a way - lose the puppy fat and you'll get a game - I dunno! :headscratch

Re: Welcome Matthew McDonough at pick 42

Only thing I can think of is we already know he's off to SA so we refuse to play him.

Other than that it doesn't make sense.

On the raw VFL and AFL stats posted by others he certainly seems to have unfairly overlooked, or at least unfairly not given a decent run. Lambert for reasons not apparent to supporters seems to have jumped above him.

same thing was posted 12 months ago. then he re-signed.

i would love to see McD play in the middle in the AFL, and be given a good run, but im not sure why some many posters refuse to accept that sometimes there are things that we dont know that influence selection.

Re: Welcome Matthew McDonough at pick 42

I haven't been down to Coburb lately, but at AFL level and in the NAB Cup I haven't seen much talent in McDonough. Not sure what everyone is seeing that I don't.

Is it just about stats? What sets him apart?

Possibly but could be a plethora of reasons we're not privy to. It's certainly surprising that he's been continually overlooked in spite of pretty good performances.

Not sure even that people are convinced he will make it long term but there is a sense of injustice that he has not been afforded the opportunities of others.

Wow, he hasn't played in many wins. Perhaps Dimma is supersticious?

Re: Welcome Matthew McDonough at pick 42

this thread is starting to sound like the Danny Meyer thread. Another gifted SAer that couldn't crack a regular senior game much to the chagrin of many

Big difference with Danny who struggled to find the ball at VFL level.

Matt has done nothing wrong and is playing very good football.

Might be on the wat back home if it ends this year

Re: Welcome Matthew McDonough at pick 42

Agree, havnt seen him in the vfl, well very little, but on what he has produced in the AFL havnt seen anything at all that hints he is worth persisting with.

Yes I agree you are obviously talking about Newman and Morris!

Re: Welcome Matthew McDonough at pick 42

Only thing I can think of is his understanding or execution of our defensive game plan isn't up to scratch.

I'm still leaning towards conditioning.
