Mark Harvey Sacked- Official

Test of an epic coach is how he rises to the challenge of rebuilding a club when it comes off its "premiership" years. St Kilda just kept topping up. So Lyon just sidesteps the coming pain. Nice one.

If this has happened as reported and Lyon contacted Freo 5 weeks ago, the next coaches association meeting will be a treat especially if Harvey gets one of the vacant jobs.

Can't see him getting another gig.

Or he gets sacked. It's a two way street.

Robbo just tweeted that Craig Kelly, who manages both Ross Lyon and Mark Harvey, has just dropped Lyon as a client. What a bizarre night.

He's only had him for about 6 months I think

Lyon did the deal behind his back, 5 weeks ago..

How the hell does he go there and do this with a coach in place...never seen anything like this. :rofl

wonder if this changes the Mitch Clark to Freo scenario ?

Coach gone and List manager gone .

It does change the scenario because it is my understanding that Harvey was one one pushing for Mitch Clark whilst the board were pushing for a major tilt at O'Meara.

No wonder they lost their finals match.

And people reckon players are overpaid?

Players did the right thing by rejecting AFL pay offer.

Let's see the fat cats Lyon and Demetriou run on the ground when the players don't.

Players put on the show! They can bring the AFL to its knees.

What a night.
Mike Sheahan will be changing his front page title every 5 minutes! :hihi

Agree.

Their recruiting since he took over has been exceptional. Definitely go after him. Dog eat dog world the AFL is becoming. Money is being thrown around everywhere.

get him. Absolute star at the list management/recruiting caper

I don't agree with the way he's gone about it but I think Lyon has done the best thing to prolong his coaching career.

St Kilda's window is closed. They have a bunch of ageing stars who are in decline but still capable of avoiding a bottom four finish at least for a few years. If he stayed at St Kilda, Lyon is looking at a minimum 5 years to rebuild that team, all the while accumulating more losses than wins. It's more than likely he wouldn't survive the rebuild.

Has a better shot at a premiership at Fremantle but it's going to be hard for him to demand loyalty from anyone ever again.
