Lynch !!

There's actually a reverse angle shot of that shirt front. In colour I think. Maybe one of those Rothman's tapes. Let's just say it doesn't look good for Fowler and his slightly raised elbow... I'll stick with this view. No problems!
Hi Royce, I have posted that footage in another post. You are right, Laurie wouldn't have used that footage at the Tribunal :)

Hi David, the other angle is in this video that I posted a few months ago. It is rare colour footage from the 1973 Grand Final. If you go to the 3.30 mark, you get another angle that I had never seen before.

What a joy to behold
It brings goose bumps and a tear in the eye at the same time

How’s the twangy commentator! And the kicking! Nich just drops the ball on to his foot like someone kicking a footy for the first time. And the others all trying to kick torps but failing.

Haha, plenty of attempted torps back in the day! *smile* Clay used to kick huge torps from full back. When someone hit one properly, they would go a mile!

Of course the real Nichols dive occurred exactly 7 years and 2 weeks earlier

When Fowler dropped the big thieving mongrel Carlton lump here he did it for himself, the team, the fans and the flag - but also for a bit of Karma for Neville Crowe
Must have felt like the karma bus actually
Deserved that and more for what he did to Neville Crow. F$#*^^ low pr!ck.

Naturally, an article in today's paper said he "escaped with a fine." In other words, intimating he was lucky.

Maybe he was but other players up before the panel don't "escape."

Did they say the same about Hawkins last week I wonder? If they had given Lynch a week it would have been appeal time with the Hawkins footage as a precedent.

Geez they're full of it.

Yeah, that's the footage, it was you posted it a while ago. Fowler had momentum, was just protecting himself ;)

Anyway after what Big Nick did to Crowe in 1967 he was lucky that's all he copped.

Relentlessly pursuing the issue still on sen... currently running a campaign to clear Harris Andrews whilst noting that Tom...... got off lightly.

Haha, I think we hire you as Laurie's player advocate, DS!
Agree about what he did to Crowey, absolute disgrace!

Hawkins elbows a bloke in the head & "gets away with it". Sure he went to the tribunal & appealed, but he still "got away with it".
NO PENALTY AT ALL, No fine or anything as far as I can see.

A push to the back of the head or an elbow to the head, which is the more dangerous. Hmmm
But the push is deemed "a bad look for the game" Pleeeaase spare me

The problem is Lynchy's not playing in blue & white hoops. Simples

Hawkins has a history of multiple times up for head and body strikes in recent years he's become a bit of a dirty prick.

It would be hilarious if Tom now asks the AFL to pay the next $500 worth of Coles express over the next week or two.

Lauren Wood from the Hun reporting on Lynch’s fine: “ Richmond Star Tom Lynch has escaped with a slap on the wrist for his shove to the back of the head of Brisbane’s Alex Witherden.”

It feels like Lauren was disappointed with the outcome.

Poor little diddums.

She like the rest of em can gagf.

My Mum used to tell a story about Ronnie Branton (she loved him) pushing Ross Smith’s face into the mud. She thought Branton was stuff to be free kicked for it, mind you she couldn’t stand Smith. How times have changed.

AFL are gunna be flat out from now fining every player who pushes an opponent’s body.....

More than happy to provide what is, clearly, an unbiased defence of Fowler ;)

$500 for Lynch was reasonable, I don't know where the media get off, that was nothing. Only a fine at all because of the look of what Lynch did.

Personally I hope he reflects on this and tweaks his behaviour a bit on-field.

By all reports he is a very nice young man but he plays footy like a jerk. Actually the way he plays footy is fine but he acts like a jerk on the field the rest of the time, and what you see is just the surface of that.

I wonder if as a young leader with not much support at the Gold Coast if he started this persona and now it has stuck. I hope he turns it around so he can be rightfully respected as a footballer and not seen as a contemptible figure by his peers.
Yes it was a bad look, but Witherden was being a pain in the butt all night.

I don't mind the mongrel, but can see where you are coming from Cho. Didn't like what he did to Witherden.
