Luke McGuane

I'm curious as to where the story we have tried to trade McGuane unsuccessfully has come from?
Posters seem to think we were desperate to get rid of him but then ignore the fact we just resigned him.

He was re-signed after the trade period which means it's pretty clear he was on the table but there were no takers. Hopefully Edwards/Elton/Astbury can show something in the next few games so we don't have to see calamity in round 1.

He is an embarrassing footballer and a liability and should have been delisted 4 years ago.

Re spoiling I wouldnt say he is a great spoiler in fact id say hes sh!those at it if he was so good hed still be in defence.

Shocking reader of the play not to mention unco hence why he gives away so many goals from stupid free kicks over the years.

Not a patch on Thursty or Grimes as a spoiler.

No other club rates him either hence no ones gone anywhere near him past 3 or 4 trade periods when hes been up for grabs especially clubs such as GWS and GCS who are desperate for depth in key defence positions yet they take Warnock and Thornton and even that other super dud in Tom Murphy, but not ol Calamity.

One of the poster children of why this club has been a laughing stock over the years.

But he's our reserve ruckman Craigy, how short sighted you can be. :hihi

A list clogger of the highest order and needs to be upgraded yesterday. No argument there.

But let's give credit where its due, he's a decent mark, no other way of lookin at it.

And do you really think he'd slot back into defence on the basis of his spoiling only? That's like telling Jack the ripper he can be a surgeon cos he's good at choppin bodies.

aah. we were forced to re-sign him when he wasnt traded. now i get it. i dont think i have heard that rule before tho.

If people are seriously naming McGuane in our forward line for Round 1 we are in massive trouble.

Agree. Ye tI'd have him ahead of Aaron Edwards. Half height key forward with no defensive side whatsoever. What were we thinking?

luke might even be overtaken by elton john in 2013, but let's at least recognise one facet of lukey's game - he's a *smile* great aerialist, whether spoilin or clunkin.

His marking is definitely his greatest strength but he also works pretty hard defensively as a forward and is very physical which are traits Hardwick clearly likes in players inside the F50m.
Right now it's up to others to force him out of the round 1 side. Who wants his spot?

Given the likelyhood that chaplin and grimes will not be ready I am guessing it means rance/griff/astbury down back which means McGuane up forward.

Interesting that our first round team will not be the strongest this year

I have no doubt that Mcguanne tries his guts out but his Bloopers reel is twice as long as his highlights reel.

Yep, he's tough and courageous but can't play in a team with finals ambitions.

He has his good patches and he has a lot of bad patches.
I'm not sure what's his role or the plan for him in the side,
He's like a hand Grenada, throw him in and see what blows up.

Thought Luke played well yesterday kicked a couple of goals, took some contested marks and applied plenty of defensive pressure
Its great to see hes giving it 110%

Had a good game IMO. Muscles brings energy to a forward line that often looks very static. A lock for round one atm.

Was a good game by Laceout, always looks a bit gangly n awkward but he competes flat out with or without the ball. Would be no surprise if Dimma lets Jaaack, Swish n Laceout continue building a partnership as our three tall forwards.

McGuane did a nice piece of work on the boundary when he took a hospital handball i think from Jacko and then propped and everyone ran past him then he weighted a handball back to Jacko and he didn't have to break stride. It was SMART play which was productive. He also did a greta spoil when out numbered on the wing at a crucial stage. Have him in front of A Edwards.
