reality is the team has improved big time has white jackson and mcgaune NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well, as long as you're absolutely certain. Guess I'll adjust my thinking a smidgin and not expect any of these three to play senior football in round one or any other round for that matter.

Might have to hunt through the team list n see if I can find another three incompetent cretins to heap scorn n vitriol upon. Sure to be able to find someone in amongst the ranks of upcoming superstars worthy of scorn, got to be at least another fifteen or twenty players outside the fringes of the senior side that I could load into the gun.

Has that rare innate ability of all great players to be in the right spot.

After that, well, errr, it all goes to *smile*.

The last 3 pages of this thread are proof that some people have goldfish like memories.

Bad stuff up by Luke in the Ziebel incident the fumble and tackle, though Ziebell made sure he went low.

90 seconds earlier, Luke takes a very good contested mark, picks out the perfect handball to Martin who beautifully switches to Ellis who misses the sealer. Guess that was Lukes fault as well. Pretty much the only forward contested mark taken by the Tiges but no Luke is *smile*.

[/quote. What bloody relevance does that have?

He played well on Friday night FULL STOP!!!
He gave a free away on Friday night FULL STOP!!!
He is not one of the best players in the league FULL STOP!!!
And when he too a couple of big grabs last year and kicked crucial goals, you stood up, punched the air, screamed his name and wrapped him up FULL STOP you bloody gold fish!!!

Yes, up until that last blunder by Luke, he played well.

But when he makes a blunder, he really makes a blunder. To me it is about concentration. He has good hands as displayed by that mark. But he fumbles the ball when he is clear?

They also don't get paid 6-7-800 large a year like the superstars. They're foot soldiers, the basic honest workers. They are the commodores n falcons that every club has in it's team running back up behind the rollers n ferraris or whatever rocket excites you.

First practice match of the season and I saw other players that were no better. If their form is reasonable, in line with their level of talent then I have no issues with them playing round one or all rounds for the year. If their form is crap then I have no doubt the coaches will try others in their place.

There's 22 places on the team list each week, a hand full of players are elite. Another hand full are very good, after that comes a great big crew of reasonable players at AFL level. If there's up and coming youngsters that bypass the older foot soldiers then, so be it. No problems as far as I'm concerned, just don't see any point in constantly bagging out or moaning about the average footballers not being as good as the elite players.
Excellant and balanced comment, filled with nothing more than common sence and knowledge and understanding of how the system works, heres to more of the same. People not all can be elete for every superstars you need those below to do their job as best of their ability, the trick is to continually strive for improvement in all from the top to the bottom.

Some people watch players to see what mistakes they make. When all they're looking for are the stuff ups, that's all they'll see and remember.

Could he just be banned from entering the defensive 50?

Poor Lukey. He's already got restrictions placed on him by his mates when he goes out: he's not allowed to carry a round back from the bar. Needs some love.

It's less of a problem if he buys cans, TJ. He just has to work more within his limitations. ;D

Just on Muscles and our forward line of 2012 and as it stands on the glimpse we've had so far, Lace-Out is our #2 forward. He can hold his position, will attack the ball in the air and can put up a block.

However from the ranks of Vickery, Elton, Astbury and Griffiths, and a part-time People's Mullet we should be able to develop one genuine #2 forward over the year.

McGumpus may be our #3 ruck right now.

But from Elton, Griffiths, Derrickxx and Stevenson we have to cultivate a reserve ruckman who can stop the slaughter if we rest (or Gawd forbid lose) either of our prime rucks.

The Flying Pencil may have earned a new nick - The Strawman - by the end of the year. Or maybe he'll still be the best we've got in those roles. If so we'll recruit mature age replacements. But the young blokes have to be given the chance to pass him.

And on that match-losing second in which Luke made two horrendous errors, the perspective is that it was a practice game and an early one. Blokes who aren't natural footballers take longer to clean their game to the extent that they can.

But suppose that were a grand final. And suppose Mother Theresa barracked for Richmond, came back to life and just happened to be listening to the game on the radio as she drove her Abrams nearby.

She'd have nuked her way into the MCG, driven onto the park, and much as McGuane might wave his arms, she'd have anti-Tank-manned the *smile* out of him.

Even Mother Theresa can have a meltdown.

I did hear that that Mother Teresa had a dark side. Chris Hitchens thoght so too.

Just had a look at the first half against the Roos again and I think the Mcguane was good fanbois might need to have closer look.

In a matter of two minutes Mcguane came in to a two on one where Jack and Cotchin were our two and decided to clip the north guy over the head and give away a free.

2 minutes later he gets a loose ball 20 metres out and instead of dihing off to someone who can play he does the Mcguanesque over thinking and overplaying teh situation and runs around in circles and then handball OOB - free to Roos.

You know he has quite a unique gift.

Big shoulders so he can carry all the hate ;D. Third tall forward n keep things very simple seems the best option for Lace out, doing too much can get somewhat ugly at times.

That says it all, our ruck stocks are at dangerously low levels.

He was possibly rucking at the time he found himself in the D50 in the lastr term. I'll cut Luke some slack as a forward but geezus get him off the ball.
The season rests on Eevan way too much.

Dare I say it, but I think mcguane could actually be set for a pretty decent season up forward. I think he will start round 1 ahead of a.edwards.

In his prime age now, looks strong and aggressive and could dish out some good hard hits this year

Agree keep him deep forward, nowhere near the defensive half.

Could be a bolter for most improved with 35 goals for the year.

Go muscles!

Ok I'm ducking and ready for the abuse....

No abuse from me, since moving forward i can't think of any forward with more consistent form other than Jack. I think he should be given a go ahead of azza. Happy to see him forced out by someone with better form but right now he is in my best 22.

I think this is fair.

I have no problem with McGuane playing round 1 as a 3rd tall. The problem is, there really is no-one knocking on the door to play that role. Post is gone, not convinced about Griffiths as a backman or forward, and not convinced of either Astbury or A. Edwards to be that reliable marking option.

Makes an absolute calamity of certain situations (think Perth game), but overall has been pretty consistent as a forward (he is probably our best contested mark at the moment).

Just keep him FAR FAR FAR away from the defensive half as he is a disaster waiting to happen there.
