Luke McGuane

McGuane will play the same role this season as he did in the last, most of the year at Coburg and will only play if we have significant injuries.

Give him 7 more games before he goes just in case he spawns some decent offspring in the future.

He'll play a couple of decent games at year end and get another contract extension. :-[

Again I'm not sure why everyone is getting caught up on Luke's one mistake. There are a heap in the game by a host of our our players that all add up to a loss. S Edwards and White for example both missed fairly gettable shots after that play.
He wasn't anywhere near as bad last night as he's being portrayed and was substantially more involved up front than AEdwards but hey let's be a sheep and say he lost us the game :spin

Oldie he did do some OK things up forward BUT his ill discipline is SELFISHNESS and we have put up with it for 8 years.

When he necks a bloke out of frustration (usually with his own ineptitude) or gives away a petulant free when we have the ball or punches away a ball that has crossed the goal line so that the other side get another shot at goal he is saying Frick you Richmond! My own sook at my inadequacies is more important than my team winning.

You add this to his Mick and Mack act with the ball in hand and you have one reason why we dont win more often.

Mcguane is like flatulence - better out than in!

I'm with you on this.

He's not best 22, so he's not a huge worry. If injuries hit, he can play a role.

but it is a huge worry when you have mcgaune white and jackson in the same team these blokes have been in the system long enough now yet they still make mistakes at crucial times

Its the NAB cup.

If we really cared about winning, Maric would have played and Lids, Cotchin, Martin etc. would not have been watching from the sideline in the last 5 minutes

Third time I've watched last nights "games" .McGuane did pretty well. Sure he made a mistake but so did Cotchin, Delidio, Martin and so on. McGuane is not the future but he does add depth as he did last season.

Can I suggest you click on the following link to understand where most of us are coming from

Have watched all our best players make just as many simple mistakes as our worst players over the years n seen the same dribble posted over and over again.

The mega paid superstars make a mistake n the blind faithfull kiss their arses. The moderately paid hard working battler ( insert your own personal choices from Jackson, McGuane, White, whoever ) makes a similar mistake n he's cost us a premiership every time.

Makes me wonder how so many can claim so much expertise of AFL footy with so little understanding of reality.

Players like McGuane, White, Jackson make mistakes (just like the good players), but they don't balance the ledger with the really good stuff. Why do you think we put these guys up for trade and no-ones interested.

Are you saying you want these three guys in our starting 22 come round one? If not, why not?

They also don't get paid 6-7-800 large a year like the superstars. They're foot soldiers, the basic honest workers. They are the commodores n falcons that every club has in it's team running back up behind the rollers n ferraris or whatever rocket excites you.

First practice match of the season and I saw other players that were no better. If their form is reasonable, in line with their level of talent then I have no issues with them playing round one or all rounds for the year. If their form is crap then I have no doubt the coaches will try others in their place.

There's 22 places on the team list each week, a hand full of players are elite. Another hand full are very good, after that comes a great big crew of reasonable players at AFL level. If there's up and coming youngsters that bypass the older foot soldiers then, so be it. No problems as far as I'm concerned, just don't see any point in constantly bagging out or moaning about the average footballers not being as good as the elite players.

and thats what you (we) were use to in the past but i will say this again this has been the best playing group we have had in a long time

reality is the team has improved big time has white jackson and mcgaune NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

p.s im more harsh on our top line players when they stuff up

very well put. Even though everyone THINKS they know that a footy side is not all superstars, they just can't help running the superstar measure over the footsoldiers.

no not at all footsoldiers should have basic football skills but with who we have been talking about lack it at times and pretty much kill off the game

2 points. 1) You're whinging about 3 players, not long ago you (and me) were whinging about 15, 2) How many games did white and Macca play last year? Bona-fide, textbook, Depth players

Bloody hell - I'm obviously lacking basic comprehension skills because I'm blowed if I know wtf this sentence means.
Do you?
