Luke McGuane

Good plsyer McGuane. QLD team of the year, 15 goals from only 9 games as a backman (well tht's what we can tell em). Definitely a good fit for an aspiring premiership team next year. They'll need to offer something good to prise him of us though.

QLD TOTY on the back of half a dozen senior games. Sounds like QLD footy considers itself fortunate to have enough players to make a team.

quality over quantity TM.

McGuane set to sign a new contract and stay a Tiger according to an unnameable AFL site.
Over the past few weeks there's been many posts here with good arguments in support of that - so well done Luke.

I just read that as well. There will be some very unhappy posters with that news.

I wonder what we have in mind for him. We've got Rance and Grimes with Post and Griffiths to develop. Not much room in the back line. And Lace-Out didn't get a lot of time there in 2012. Fair enough.

Do we think he can develop as a utility forward? If we are really going to land a few free agents this doesn't add up to me.

What position do we have in mind for him?

You think dimma is that blind that McGuane's gonna start in games next year with a full list? He's probably just extending his contract for 1 more year and will sit in the reserves the whole year until major injuries happen. Relax.

Smart move. If things going according to plan McGun won't play a senior game in 2013 and he can spend his time at Coburg showing the kids what giving 110% every game looks like.

But if we ge hit with a run of injuries then he can step in as a mature body when we don't have enough of them in the firsts.

I don't think he'll be on a massive salary either.

Got used to awhile ago now.

While he wouldn't get a new contract at any other teams he will at Richmond. Annoying but not surprising.

We just don't have the depth - that's the problem - if we cop a few injuries to big men we are in huge trouble.

I'm no fan of McGuane, but play him forward if he stays, he costs us less goals there than the backline (yes I know the Freo game), but over a season I mean

Thought he provided alot more than Miller did in the role. Certainly feel a lot more comfortable seeing him in the forward line. Just needs to get rid of the comedy acts, then again keep them, it lightens the intense monents and for a moment unites Richmond and opposition supporters alike.

Yeah we all know Luke has his deficiencies
If everyone of our players showed the passion & guts that Luke showed at those particular contests we'd be nigh unbeatable.

If he's upgraded eventually by a better player great but it's obvious he bleeds yellow and black so let's get behind him and leave the cheap shots at the door. Couldn't care less what his knockers say, I unashamedly love this kid's attitude.

This is why we should, and are, keeping McGuane. At least until someone else comes along.

I'm completely okay with it too.
