Luke McGuane

Re: Luke McGuane = Guts

Sticky mit's has Luke.Well done today i thought he presented strongly.

Re: Luke McGuane = Guts

Been a Muscles hater for a long time. Still don't think he'll play any part in our future but I was impressed today. Bloody good hands.

Re: Luke McGuane = Guts

Nice to see Laceout take his opportunity in the forward line. There's a hole needs filling as a mobile third tall and he'll get the rest of the season to claim it as his. Wonder if he's good enough and hungry enough to keep the others out of the side for a few more years.

Re: Luke McGuane = Guts

I always felt for boty McGuane and Moore in our backline in previous years when we were being smashed. At least they both tried their guts out, when we were grossly undermanned and coached. Good luck to McGuane, played alright yesterday imo. Hope Moore gets a chance to show what he can do in a winning side too.

Re: Luke McGuane = Guts

played yesterday exactly how he has been playing at VFL level. well done luke :clap

Re: Luke McGuane = Guts

still can't kick. put him up the ground and get him to mark it out there. its all he's good at. rather try and develop someone else then have him take a spot to be honest.

Re: Luke McGuane = Guts

Have been a regular critic of McGuane's, like most of us, but can't help but admire the fact that he continues to try his heart out. Been watching him at Coburg and if he could kick straight (as has always been his problem) he'd have kicked a few bags this season. With TV down and Miller a worry, understandable that they've brought him in. His hands are excellent, his marking judgment very good, but in a team with the goal kicking accuracy of a sawn-off shotgun, not sure whether he'll be a help or a hindrance up forward in coming games. At least he provides a presence, I guess, and requires a quality opposition backman??

Re: Luke McGuane = Guts

I still don't see him as part of the future, but he gave more yesterday than I've seen from Miller in any of his games this year. Surprised to hear that he was a forward before Richmond recruited him. I thought the plan was always to play him in defence.

Re: Luke McGuane = Guts

Playing McGuane in the forward line will keep the defender honest as we saw yesterday Riewoldt had the luxury of only having 1 defender on him instead of the usual 3.

Yep. Good selection for structure, Miller should never be selected ahead of McGuane again.

Re: Luke McGuane = Guts

Agreed muscles could have kicked 4 goals. He will be staying in the team. We desperately needed a tall to stand op take marks and kick goals.

Now who play like Nate foley?

Can we rookie Luke for insurance and cut Miller?

Hes a restricted free agent. I may be mistaken but from reading the free agency rules, if another club offered mcguane a contract they could list him unless we matched it. If he refused our office a trade would have to be done or he takes his luck in the draft.

To answer your question: we can't put him on the rookie list without delisting him first, then going he's available when we want to draft him on the rookie list.

Re: Luke McGuane = Guts

This Luke love is amusing. He was never as bad as the masses made him out to be. Yesterday proved that.

Please Baloo. One game at a satsifactory level against a woeful opponent, in a career punctuated by mediocrity.

Despite this I prefer him to Miller whose career hasn't been punctuated as much as swamped in mediocrity
