Luke McGuane

Re: Luke McGuane = Guts

Nothing against the Goo but alarm bells must be ringing when an irishman in his FIRST year at playing Aussie Rules gets a Gig ahead of him.

Not when they play a very different position

So who,s spot is O'Rielly taking? Deledios,Connors or Newmans?
Somehow i don,t think the above deserve to be dropped whereas according to most on this thread either McGuane or Thirsty should be.So the question has to be asked why O'Rielly ahead of the Goo?

I expect Connors or Farmer to be dropped, alternatively O'Rielly will simply take a spot on the bench and will rotate with the three you mentioned
We don't actually know that Gourdis won't play this weekend either, the article only said that O'Reilly will

Re: Luke McGuane = Guts

I don't buy the argument that the Goo is being held back to "work on things". The standard practice this year with the new kids/rookies is to elevate if they show good form, give them at least 3 games to give them a feel of the AFL pace, and then send them back down to work on things now that they have a better understanding of what's required. Especially as he's a key backman and our 3 main boys, Luke, Kel and Willy have been out through injury this year so there was ample opportunity for him to get a gig.

Look, I'd be very surprised if Goo is delisted next year but the fact he hasn't played a senior game yet when most other new kids and elevated rookies have is telling. Hopefully in a few hours things will change and we'll seem him listed in the squad finally.

Id be surprised if Connors is dropped after one bad game.Farmer could very well be the one,However the question still remains if Mcguane is so bad and atm his form is shocking albiet being played up fwd doesn,t look like his cup of tea then why hasn,t the Goo been given ago?

Re: Luke McGuane = Guts

An article on the Herald Sun website quotes Dimma saying that Gourdis will get a game before the end of the year, perhaps as early as this week. We will find out later today.

So you think dropping players from the 15th placed team won't affect their trade value one bit? That quite odd. I'm tipping if one or both of these 2 go out of the team over the next few weeks it will be through 'leg' not omit.

Told ya Baloo. Do you now agree with my views on Gourdis?

I was close. Wasn't the famous 'leg' but 'virus'. I seriously doubt he is sick, strikes straight after the week he is poor. :hihi.

Re: Luke McGuane = Guts

Told me what ? You said they wouldn't drop them because it would lower their value.

Willy T - dropped.
Luke - Virus. Is it a furphy ? Well considering there is a virus going around the clubs knocking out a few players (Bulldogs, Simon Black), it's a very real possibilty.

So you were 100% wrong on Willy T and on Luke your grasping at straws.

As for your views on Gourdis, which ones were they exactly ?

Re: Luke McGuane = Guts

Dropping a player from the 2nd last team no doubt lowers their trade value. McGuane plays a shocker, suddenly out with a virus. About as believable as them listing 'leg' for every injury all year. :hihi.

Yet Willy T who played just as bad is dropped. Come on Barney, it's not that hard to admit you were wrong.

Re: Luke McGuane = Guts

Well they are doing themselves no favours dropping Thursfield if their intention is to trade him. Although, I would still offer both up and see what they attract. At least 1 or 2 of Thursfield, McGuane, Moore have to be replaced.

I can understand what your saying, but if a club has interest in a player I am sure their research will go beyond whether or not a player has been dropped from the senior team...

Agreed but I certainly don't think it would influence their opinion in a positive way either.

Re: Luke McGuane = Guts

There is an in between Barney and that's what I've been saying. It won't make a difference either way if a player is dropped 3 games from the end of the season when the team he plays for is cycling as many new kids as possible through their senior team.

Won't be positive, won't be negative. It's that gray area that's not Black or White.

leave Barnzy alone - its not his fault he knows more about footy than our coach :hihi

What a rubbish post.

weren't you the one questioning Hardwick as a coach at the start of the season because he was persisting with duds like king when you expected him to be drawing a line through them as they would not be in our next premiership side?

I may disagree with something he does here or there like others might (wasn't a fan of giving Simmonds another year or re-drafting Polak, etc) but I have never questioned Hardwick as coach.
