Luke McGuane

Re: Luke McGuane = Guts

I think Astbury is a very good option for us down back.
He's going to play a lot of footy at CHB.
McGuane will be safe but his kicking is terrible.
He won't make it as a forward.

I think we'll draft another tall forward this year.

He was recruited as a CHF from QLD.
Had questionable kicking skills then, not much has changed.

Re: Luke McGuane = Guts

Thought he managed to bring his ability to give away silly free kicks from defence in to the forward line today.

Re: Luke McGuane = Guts

i thought mcguane played a role today. not sure if its where his futire lies though

yep. A workmanlike effort in that regard.

Re: Luke McGuane = Guts

Agree with Evo - lol.

Oldie, Luke actually played forward the first half - I think it was more where can we keep him put of the way. went back in the third - put in a terrible effort being outmarked by a crow small and then banished forward again where he kicked 'goal of the yea'r - clever that having 7 yards to play with he decided to miss the right post by 3 mm.

I think it is a very easy move to have Gourdis in Luke out next week. Wonder what the brains trust is thinking - they clearly like Astbury down back instead of Luke

Re: Luke McGuane = Guts

didn't Thursfield swap with McGuane in the last quarter, played a negate forward?

Re: Luke McGuane = Guts

Picking Luke to play CHF says more about how Post is going more than Luke.

Not that I needed any more convincing, but today surely showed that there is now nowhere to hide him. One can only pray GC or GWS are interested. I'd take the warm slab of XXXX for him if offered.

Probably. But at least PoMo has youth in his favour.

Re: Luke McGuane = Guts

Honestly did nothing for the me playing up forward. A waste of time, yes he kicked a goal or two where he was given them. Did nothing in terms of structure and if we need to have hope on this guy down forward then we are in huge trouble.

Moving Muscles up forward in the 2nd half changed the game. Good move from Dimma.

He started up forward and played the majority of the game there.

Re: Luke McGuane = Guts

Seems he's no longer a walk up start in the back six. Played forward as a fill in and contributed, but I don't see him in the long term plans for the forward line (although Dimma seems good at reinventing and reinvigorating some players).
Mcguane is looking a tad shaky at he RFC. Even with his limitations re decision making he's still got some currency as an AFL player. Wouldn't be surprised to see his name on the trade table at the end of the year.

Did he? Oh well there you go.
I didn't pick that up at the ground.

You often seem to miss McGuane's stuff ups; and Cousins' good play for that matter.

;D

Re: Luke McGuane = Guts

This really was a critical move for us. Not McGuane neccessarily, but getting some realistic help up there for Jack. Rutten had him well covered, but the Crows foucs on Jack created opportunities for other players in the second half.

Gee we need to find some more forward options quickly.

couldnt agree more. it just points out our lack of forward depth. irrelivent whether mc guane did a good job or not
