Luke McGuane

Another great game saving tackle today contributed very well got 1 vote from me

Thought McGunn played well today kicked 3 goals, competed well and provided plenty of forward pressure.

Absolutely,

smashed them in the first half. We didn't have as much of the ball in the second half which is no fault of his. Still crashed packs and kicked 3. Not bad by our second forward.

Muscles is essential for our finals campaign. Great foil for JackR and when he contests he creates space for finishers like Foley and Mattie White.
Also has ability to physically soften up opponents...... a huge plus in big games.

I think I've come the half circle with Luke. I've been a critic but I think he,s found his niche: insurance. He,s been great to fill a need ie 2nd or 3rd tall forward (or back) or even at a stretch relief ruck for a few minutes. Trouble has been he,s been used as 1st tall back when he simply wasn't up to it. He,s never going win a b&f but I think now he has a suitable role.

I reckon he is just really hard to match up on because even he does not know what he is going to do !!

McGuane is like a scrappy 'chaos' kick into the forward line that freaks out defenders !!

keeps kicking his two a week and the one percenters then he is doing his job.

Done right a flashy first half from muscles forces defenders to zone off Riewoldt which has to be a win for us surely? If he snags a couple, all the better.

He has been great. Never a great fan but you have to admire what he is doing, you never get less than 100% from Luke.

Fits a need right now and his reward for persistence and hard work is probably going to be finals.

:clap

McGuane is what he is. Has kicked 2 or 3 goals in 7 of the 11 games he has played in and deserves another year imo as a backup. Has performed much better than that A Edwards bloke who definitely has to go.

I gave him a vote on the weekend and mainly for his first half work. Don't know what it is but he never seems to kick a goal in the second half of games.

Still think we should sign him up again.
I emphatically argued that case late last year i.e. that Luke was absolutely deserving of a new contract for 2013. I must admit that he's done better than I expected this year.
I am a big fan of his just from the point of how hard he tries. And at this point I reckon he deserves a similar deal again in 2014.
That said - the time must come that even when there are injuries etc - he will not be a contender for our best 22 - and that there will be a younger longer term option.
But maybe those younger players will be better for having seen how hard McGuane has worked for his own 100 plus game career.

Dud.

Hopefully this is the end of the McGuane experiment. No serious finals side contains this bloke.

Delist.

Agree. Has been given enough chances and just hasn't proven to be that 3rd forward. Time for Elton/O'Hanlon to come in.
