McGuanes success makes me wonder how Grimes or Rance would go up forward.
Grimes a much better reader of play much better instincts much better skills.
Rance, better reader stronger attack on ball and opponent better centre of balance, better accumulator of possetions.

Just thinking outside the square.
Mcguane got something those two blokes don't, A pack mark specie in his locker, and dare I say it X faxtor !

Jerry-lee has X factor oozing from glands behind his ears at present. Let us pray..... Dear Lord, please let Jerry-lee go on an unstoppable spectacular rampage against the cats that we will talk about into the next millenium. 8 contested marks, 7.2, trifecta the mark of the year.

It really does make you wonder what might have been if we'd tried him up forward years ago and let him develop there rather than try and turn him into a defender.

Same with Griffiths & Pettard

One trick pony another that should not be in the side but on at Coburg to take his place and Edwards is not the answer.

out of interest, what is his 'one trick'?

See ball and go hard at it, without any real skills.
Can take a mark but kicking lets him down.

I'm sure I've heard that comment somewhere before. It'll come to me.

I'll take his 'one trick' any day if it continues to average 2 goals a game. That's 44 goals we don't have to get from anyone else.

McGuane has kicked at least two goals a game in his last seven AFL games, the longest current streak of 2+ goal games.

That's not bad. His haters will be really frustrated if he keeps it up for most of the year.

Most teams seem to have a player that is awkward and does the odd dumb thing, but keeps doing enough good things to stay in the side. Lately, his good things are far outweighing the increasingly rare dumb thing.

just to keep the love-in going, article on RFC.com: http://www.richmondfc.com.au/news/2013-05-02/top-tiger-tall-forwards

says that McGuane and Jack are the best 1-2 tall forward combination in the league. (best by way of most goals kicked.)
considering Jack is a lazy sooky bum how good does that make McGuane?

Just to pick up our point about angry vs sooky players, brodders, I reckon Muscles totally spits it from time to time. Usually when we're about to lose and there's not hope. He'll run like a maniac after somebody who's none of his business and give up a very cheap skull smash. Usually quite cynically.

He's always done it. I quite like the trait and wish more of our blokes did it. Nobody ever dies - it's just a whack or knee to the chops. Yep. Cynical spite. Nice.

I wish Jack did that.

Ablett did it. Plugger did it. Buddy does it (though with nowhere near the malice of the other 2). Ty wants to do it, albeit he looks for the nearest bantamweight. Don't know if Jack's got any nasty in him.
