Luke McGuane

Playing his role well. He is getting to the stage of being someone who we can rely on to perform his role every week.

been happy with his performance. just has to get those stupid frees he gives out of his game. 4 of them last night.

McGoo has made me tentatively take back what I said last year "we will never be any good as long as Luke is in the squad". In our best 15 at the moment.

Not sure if this is a feature of his game, but at Subi on Friday night he had really clean hands. Some of the kicks coming in to him were spinning like a sputnik falling out of orbit, but he was one grab every time.

I must say I was impressed.

Love the waY HE ATTACKS THE BALL IN MARKING CONTESTS. Is still a limited player but looks better in attack than defence

McGuanes success makes me wonder how Grimes or Rance would go up forward.
Grimes a much better reader of play much better instincts much better skills.
Rance, better reader stronger attack on ball and opponent better centre of balance, better accumulator of possetions.

Just thinking outside the square.

Grimes is one of the coolest heads we've had in defence in years. He stays there.
Rance might work but McGuane's natural instincts are as a forward. It's not that easy what he's doing now that just anyone can.

First half terrific, then drifted out of it.

Included the obligatory McGuane Subiaco special when the bounce didn't come back to him, but this time it ended well. He's improving.

Ok. Lovelace-out's Round 5 game. Not bad IMO. He was a bit less involved than usual and lost very deep in the forward line for long periods.

I have a feeling we was instructed to wrestle in the hot spot (he is a sex machine after all) rather than pack smash. Setting the frame for Vickery to cherry pick. (Soft third man up pseudo contested mark - see many of them?)

I don't recall Muscles chasing one down close to goal but he did catch one escapee. Bravo. Two more of them next week and another in front of goal.

No doubt he was used at times in a decoy role very deep but I still thought he was down on his best form.

However. Luke McGuane did nothing that was unforgivable. He did not rush and miss a set shot from 20m out. In fact he kicked two straight. It's an easy game for a forward when he finishes his work in front of goal.

The question is do we hold onto Muscles or trade him... We have budding tall forwards that need to be blooded in before the window opens. What we need is a descent small forward. I do like Muscles agility though, maybe he can be both :-\

yeah solid jack. he did kick the two goals, but I'd hate for him to start believing he was, ya know, a proper forward and all.

needs to remember his roots. his working class, soot and grime, sweat and grit, ornery, inbred-farmboy roots.

Have you watched the replay L2? He was pretty damn good in the last Q. Highlight was getting a stoppage in our fwd line when he was outnumbered 4 to 1 though sheer fanaticism. He covered a lot of ground throughout the game too. I liked his game a lot on replay

It is one of my fears that he gets paid and he stops playing with a edge. His single greatest competitive advantage is that he attacks each contest like it is his last.
