What about Shaft McGun, in deference to him being the people's hero and all? Then we could give him a classic theme song, something catchy like:

Who's the black private *smile*
That's a sex machine to all the chicks?
SHAFT!
Ya damn right!

Who is the man that would risk his neck
For his brother man?
SHAFT!
Can you dig it?

Who's the cat that won't cop out
When there's danger all about?
SHAFT!
Right On!

They say this cat Shaft is a bad mother
SHUT YOUR MOUTH!
I'm talkin' 'bout Shaft.
THEN WE CAN DIG IT!

He's a complicated man
But no one understands him but his woman
SHAFT McGUN!

Well done tigersnake - or is it tigershakespear?

Thanks Tenacious, but not my words obviously. Bootsma-de for Walkin' - Nancy Sinatra, Tom Young Goon - my local Thai restuarant menu, Toovey or not Toovey - Hamlet, Shakespeare, the rest adapted from his best play: McGuane, I mean MacBeth

Nice work tigerspeare :clap. You really should have a go at Kanga karoake.

I think Jerry-Lee is standout

1. It has the OTT tex/buddy quality. Its as good
2. Its great to yell loud and slow. You can inflect the LEEEEEEEEE beautifully. With the timbre of 10 beers and having yelled it 10 times previously, its just works
3. It has the added bonus of, when Jerry-Lee gets in the inevidable conflict that comes with being a struttin' power forward, we can sing "C'mon over INSERT OPPONENTS NAME HERE, theres a whole lotta shankin' goin' on".

4. Alternately, if jerry-lee is kicking too many behinds, which we have to expect from time to time, we can sing "C'mon over baby, theres a whole lot of shankin' going on"
5. If we want to be really silly we can sing "we got chickens in the barn ... what barn?, whos barn?, my barn"

The possibilities are endless. im using it

Never been a fan, with, I think good reason. But is clearly enjoying his footy. Opens the debate on "natural" positions vs "man-made". Looks like a born forward. Imagine if Riewoldt had *smile*'s athletic gifts.

Interesting GenY interview on the AFL site. Drafted as a forward, he was only made a defender early in his career out of necessity due to a player getting an injury (Gaspar?) and due to our lack of KPD stocks at the time was left there until last year when it looked as if his clock was punched. Mark Williams, Dimma & mainly Luke himself suggested the change back to his natural position. He seems very happy to be back there too.

I thought for some reason he was always played as a defender early on. Was he initially drafted in the Frawley years? That may explain it. Frawley was determined to turn every player on the list, except for Richo, into a defender. I remember his first game (I may be wrong here), but I thought it was the mother of all hidings we got from Sydney at Etihad. He was played on Micky O and O'Laughlin had a field day, he was probably really pleased Gaspar wasn't there, because for some reason Gaspar usually beat him. I can't remember if he played in the Adelaide game the following week where we surprisingly rolled the Crows.

Nah from memory he was drafted by Terry Wallace in his first year as coach. Went in the same draft as Lids and Tambling didn't he?

I feel a bit sorry for Luke as you could make a case that for the first 6-7 years of his career he was played out of position and perhaps lost some development out of it. So happy for him now though that he's enjoying his time up forward. We've had some success in turning the careers around by moves to the forward line, Jake King is another who falls into that category.

He's a survivor.

He was brought to a debt riddled basket case of a club with no decent player development; and run by dickheads who played him out of position and in spite if all that he survived in an environment where numerous other players had their careers wrecked. He's outlasted bling Meyer Patto polo Thursfield Hughes Oakley-COnnors and others.

I know I had a line drawn through his name
Them he got called back for a game, surprisingly, and even moreso surprising, he was played forward.
He got his chance and took it.

I say 'good on him!!'

One of the few players from the draft that will go on to play 100 games. Richmond have milked the 2004 draft like no-ones business, I'm even tipping some sort of record for the number of juniors selected or traded for coming from one particular year.

B.Deledio (1) - 175
R.Tambliing (4) - 119
A.Thomson (11) - 32
D.Meyer (12) - 26
A. Pattison (16) - 66
D.Polo (20) - 77
L. McGuane (36) - 96
I.Maric (40) - 101
M.Morton (44) - 76
D.Limbach (52) - 0
C.Knights (56) - 98
W.Thursfield (Rk 1) - 77
A.Edwards (Rk 52) - 82

We have even more from the 2006 draft

Riewoldt
Grigg
Hislop
S Edwards
A Edwards
Petterd
Houli
Connors
Peterson
Collins
Collard
Kingsley-PSD
Clingan
King-RD

Seven of them are on the current list and six are playing in the senior team at present.
