List Management 2023

We have next to no trade currency. Realistically speaking we ain’t getting rid of Short, Vlastuin etc.

We need to take our medicine this year and hit the draft with what we have and hope we see natural progression with our current crop of kids.
Our off field recruiting team come draft night..

Our only other hope is free agents or take an overpaid player off the books of GWS or Gold Coast for a pick. Surely we would have some space in our cap after retirements.
It would be interesting to see if we bring in a Chris Newman as coach what he would do with some of our older blokes ie. Grimes, Pickett and KMac. He has just watched Mitchell dump the older blokes at the hawks and the younger boys thrived. Interesting times for the RFC.

i am not sure on any of this. But i was under the impression that the club has to lodge lists at a certain time before the Drafts and from there- clubs are allocated extra junk round picks; to ensure they have enough options for the National and Pre-season drafts. and if a club passes on any allocated selections; they can use the SSD signing period (not sure of the correct names) to ensure they can get their list up to the required amount of players- including main list and rookies and category b rookies. Not sure if someone else could shine a better more informed light on it please to assist my understanding. But the point I was trying to make was more about how we can get enough points by trading fringe players with some currency- to try and get the Gold Coast first round pic. (*and they might throw back to us their 60,65 & 68 which have 0 points currency towards their academy players)... so yeah; ie: Norths 3rd rounder for 446 points . Sydneys third rounder for 412 points. West Coast's third rounder: 465 points or our third rounder= currently at 362 points. Not sure it gives Suns enough points to cover all their Academy players. Suns dont need players this year; as many have pointed out- they just need later multiple pics worth enough points for their 3 academy players who will be bid on in the top 15.. those 2 uncontracted players can be traded as well- if they dont agree to the trade though- they walk to the pre-season draft/or risk not getting a gig in 2024.
Ok so we trade out players to get Pick 4 and end up having to re-contract players we would have preferred not to AND have to draft a bunch of junk round picks we know are very unlikely to make it. Doesn't sound like a sound strategy to me. Very high price to pay for the sake of 1 unproven but highly rated youngster.

Other teams are in a much better position to broker a deal. Sydney, Adelaide, West Coast, for example.

If we trade out Prestia or balta and/or take on a salary dump player who knows? That’s how we’ll get back in.

If we trade out 3 (kmac, Ralph and graham) for later picks and upgrade four from our bloated rookie list we have a lot of capital to trade up the order with clubs looking for points.

It’s all there for the taking if we are brave enough. Rebuild s take time but we are one tall forward and one pacey attacking mid away froM being right back in it I think. Thomas ? Maybe.

On hopper, I’m hoping that a preseason is all he needs. Same with sonsee. El nour will e a good rookie pick up. We are all a bit flat after a frustrating year but I think we are not as bad off as this year would suggest. The 5 hunks are gold. Another draft with that hit rate and bang we are back in it.

Bradtke delisted.

Was never really looking like making it but when our first delisting is a KPF, when we have none, that's a major worry

He was definately a crap shoot. I guess they figured a full preseason was not going to help

hope we have a crack at Burgess from the Suns. He’s contracted but wouldn’t cost much you’d think.

Hope he:
A: Already knows how to kick a football (Collina didn’t).
B: Can actually move faster than a glacier (Collina couldn’t).
C: Can mark a football.

Look forward to Colina & him doing kick to kick at training. That is of course if Colina ever gets to train.

Which one is Collina again ? Is he the one who is always walking laps ?
Did he actually find his way to Punt Road? If Colina was a business ASIC would be having a long hard look at him.

I don’t mind that we have a punt on a player but geez they should be an animate object first.
