Surely this would be a record for most pages on a thread before the player has even made his debut ;D

That record is held by Brad Miller. We had hit 100 pages between when he was rookied and before Rd 1

Jordy created a fair bit of debate when he was drafted too. I can't see McBean playing this year, though. He just doesn't figure in Dimma's 2014 plans. A good pre season though and a couple of decent pre season games and we could see the second coming early in season 2015.

If Liam started dating a supermodel it would break the internet

Yes, but on Miller, it was PRE'nders posting their dissatisfaction on his recruiting.

hes more likely to take a kind-hearted concubine

edit. just watched a replay of his 4 goals. Only 1 was noteworthy. Keep him in the saviour-nursery for another couple of weeks.

I dont want to see this thread spoilt by a 5 possession debut.

Be okay if they resulted in 5 goals, though.

Which one ? the classical gather below the knees & left foot snap at the PR end ? or the huge pack mark @ the Brunton Ave end ?

:hihi. I'll defer to you TT. sounds like you were there?

Defo the gather and snap. the replay didnt capture the magnitude of the pack at the brunton ave end.

happily standing corrected.

hahaha , yes I was there, I may have used a little poetic licence when I described it as a huge pack mark !!

:fing32.

you need a poetic licence before you can post in this thread.

can you tell us more of Lean 'n Means time in the ruck and his contested possessions please?

Tim Clarke says:

Liam McBean
4 goals, 12 disposals (9 contested), 3 marks
Another solid game in terms of scoreboard involvement. Played in the ruck due to Shaun Hampson’s late injury, which was a new role for him. It helped him get more contested possessions up the ground but we still want him marking the ball. Took three but we want that number to be seven to ten.

Are these coaches pedantic and asking for too much?

Ok, No PL or BS this time !!
I thought his ruck work was sensational , even had a chuckle to myself at one stage, think I read somewhere he won 19 ruck contests, ?? didnt think it was that many but jumped high & won many & was a pleasure to behold.
TBH didnt really take notice of his CPs , except the gather & snap & 1 or 2 clearances

Is still learning his role & his body & as Dimma & Clarke both say is still coming to grips with going both ways but I think when he gets his chance he will grab it

I am excited as any about McJesus's prospects but I don't expect any sort of performance at senior level before 2016. The reality is he will need to be functional as a big man (ie. take 7-10 marks a game) to demand a tall defender and then the small man highlights reel will be Hollywood-grade. Until then, he will attract a mobile defender at senior level who will simply run off him at will. Imagine a Josh Gibson gathering 50 possessions in a game versus McJesus nil.

Depending on how performs and shapes up during pre-season, he'd probably debut mid-2015 sometime, but I wouldn't be surprised he'd also be groomed for ruck work as Vickery was. If you're 200cm, ruck has to be an obligation.
