Same goes for Houli and fasting. Anybody who's ever been involved in any sort of athletic endeavour knows that diet impacts massively on performance. If you can't drink water during a football match, you are going to play worse.

Houli's been pretty average for the last month or so, and Saturday was one of the worst games I've seen him play for a while. So, whether he fasted or not, he probably wouldn't have played well, but you have to have your head in the sand to suggest that getting up before dawn to stuff yourself, and then not hydrating at all on game day, is not going to impact your physical performance.

Errrr, so why is he played every week during Ramadan?

Anyone who thinks having your dad die, and having a pregnant partner, is not going to affect your form is in dream world.

Hampson's had a massive year in his personal life. Footballers are people. What goes on at home definitely and inarguably affects how you play.

I don't know how Hampson would have gone otherwise, but these things do impact.

I seem to recall on the Houli thread that he got "permission" to drink during a game.

Might as well considering Hampson's form was tied in with having a pregnant partner.

You know what it's like to have a pregnant wife? You know how their pregnancy went? Talk about sexism ::)

Theres no such thing as permission you do it or you dont do it its simple as
Theres no one who can give you such perrmission. Rules are very clear.

Did you read the post that was linked ? If so, what part of "he stated that he was flying in the pre season and has let the death of his father and the birth of his son impact his football." isn't clear ?

Yes I did read that actually. I wasn't talking about the birth of the baby. I was referring to earlier comments about having a pregnant partner. There's a big difference.

yeah nah. I was the first to raise it when you laughed at my suggestion. Pregnant wife/partner, impending birth of your first child are the same thing when we're talking about loss of focus and form. Then adding in the death of a father and it's compounded.

If you want to debate technicalties of a pregnant spouse isn't the same as the impending birth of your first kid, go ahead. technically you are right. But it's part of the same life changing event that plays on a man's mind which is what the point of my post was all about. The baby hadnt dropped yet, so I stayed focused on the pregnant partner.

You find it incredulous that a pregnant partner can play on a man's mind enough to have him lose focuson his job. That just proves you're not a man.

Haha glad I'm not a man if having a pregnant partner makes them lose focus on their job. I had to work to a high standard throughout my pregnancies.

Impending birth is different to actual birth. The link you gave clearly mentioned birth of baby rather than having a pregnant spouse or impending birth.
