So whats the S+C goss for this summer, linus. Is there any danger someone is going to lift a few weights? Or are we persisting with the Titch Edwards/ Nahas builds in our forward line?

Had a sauce for awhile, but haven't caught up for ages, I'm hoping he ends up at the Tigers eventually anyway, but it won't be this year.

In regards to Titch and Nahas, the terms silk purse and sows ear come to mind, but certainly the boys will continue the trend of functional strength training, like pretty much every other club except the Bombers, who just take drugs instead. To the best of my knowledge they still do plenty of Olympic lifts as part of the program and Burgo has a really good rep. I haven't been impressed with our finishes this year and I'm hoping it's just a condition of the young legs in our midfield and not a flaw in the training.

But all teams these days wear gps monitors at training and log extensively the distance covered and break down within that distance zones at different effort levels. So they may log at training 12 zone ones, 12 zone twos etc, right down to zone six to get just the right workload to mimic match requirements. It's amazing technology and leaves very little to chance. Burgo came from the Hawks so you think he would know exactly what was required to train a top team.

I still think Port got the right guy last year though.

It seemed to me particularly stark when we played Sydney that we are still lightly framed across the board when compared to a number of clubs - particularly the better teams. If we are doing Olympic lifts, then maybe they need to put a few more plates on. Many of the players entering their prime appear to be losing size if anything. I'm thinking here of Reiwoldt, Martin, Grigg, Conca and Vickery. These are guys who have strong frames to work with. I just hope this off season as well as obsessing over logging distance zones our prime movers start to put on some lean body masses. We get brushed aside to easily when the going gets tough.

Honestly I thought the Chimp was on the lighter side this year too. Especially the wings.

If McBean manages to not impale himself on a garden stake in the off season he should be right.
;D
yes , that was in our "if something could go wrong it did " period.

I remember before that Ottens moved like a gazelle. Mcbean reminds me of that

He's a better mover then Ottens.

You think?

He is a good mover for sure, very good, but so was Ottens at 19. I still recall some of the run and carry and long goals he kicked in his early days.

I didn't mean it to downplay McBean, more as praise.

can confirm that the boys are working hard in the gym, and that string bean had a clean up on his ankle after that injury he got playing at coburg.
