Liam McBean

Very promising tall but as we head for finals I don't see the point in playing him. He would likely struggle with his light frame and the need for hard defensive pressure anyway.

I can't believe I am saying this but McGuane is the better option at the moment. His defensive pressure when we don't have the ball is important for us. I am sure if McBean is good enough he will overtake McGuane but not yet imo.

Bloody rapt that we can leave the youngsters at Coburg for a transition year between under 18's and seniors. Gives them the perfect opportunity to grow and develop without the extra pressure of senior footy.
Easier for a big strong bodied mid to do a quick transition as a back up behind a bunch of other mids then a long tall underweight pelican trying to survive in a key post.

Totally get all the calls for us to throw a tarp over the bean, as far as afl footy goes.

Conventional wisdom could never have a stronger case.

But.

I reckon mcbean falls into the precocious talent category. Jack has it. Cotchin has it. Deledio, vlastuin, Martin.

Yes he is a stick. But unlike astbury and griffiths, has shown an exquisite ability to find the pill on the ground and seems to have the physical intelligence to avoid injury. Again, like jack.

We've put in a ton of hard work over the winter. We play Brisbane and GWS in the last bracket.

Yes, we shouldn't flirt with form. And structures.

But we just played two lumbering rucks. On what planet was the big O gonna provide defensive pressure in the forward zone?

Mcguane was good on saturday. But if we are to stamp ourselves as a club with high ambition, what could be better than dispose of four remaining teams with an exciting, unpredictable and potentially uncontrollable forward line?

Dimma has been flint hard. He deserves a lollipop.

Common sense post.

No reason why McBean can't slot in and potentially impress and stay. Finals or not.

If Westhoff can impact in his first year as a stick insect why can't lean Bean? McGuane is not the future and might not even be the present.

^ Jeremy Cameron then?

fair point, tho Cameron is now listed at 194cm, 91kgs.

the occasional player will cope, many dont. I would love to see McBeast get a game this year, possibly the next 3, but I wont be upset if he doesnt. Same with McDonna.

McBean's about 94 kg already. But not much of that is upper body muscle!

According to those that follow that type of thing, Beannie has a big arse for a young boy.

I'd leave him out. No need to rush him in. We're making the finals. Let's use every game from here on in to practice our game.

If we make the Grand Final, bring McBean in, let him score 7 or 8 and become a Trivia question for the rest of his life.

A big arse like a thick neck is a very good sign. He won't be a sapling for long.

This post reminds me of when Justin Plapp was on our list and all you ferals talked him up. And look were he ended up.

Bentleigh!!!

Maybe the bean burger should be given some game time down back to develop better defensive pressure.

Can you imagine the meltdown on this thread if the club did that?
