Liam McBean

point is that mcbean deserves a spot more than Vickery.

apparently not according to Rosy.

Don't put words in my mouth. I'm happy for the coaches/selection panel to make the decisions.

Frankly, I'd like to see him in the seniors regardless. The season's effectively over, I've enjoyed watching him play in the VFL this year, and I get more out of watching talented kids grow into AFL players than I do from watching guys posturing in the forward pocket.

That being said, I still believe the team needs more Gourdis, so my opinions should be treated with caution.

McBean's claim to fame on PRE is that he is becoming the only player selected to play seniors that Brodders has ever criticized

not sure about that.
i rate his skill set, i rate his performances at VFL level.
i do think tho that he is not strong enough to perform at AFL level yet, and I think his games have shown this. it woul dnot matter if he ahd played 5 or 50 games, he would still be getting outbodied by smaller more nimble opponents and struggling to impact games.
if he can put on weight and gain strength i reckon he will be a good player.

Rosy, you're not in any way related to Vickery are you?

lol sorry I couldn't help myself :-X

I don't have any fondness for Ty at all. I do find the constant bagging of him and the over adulation of Liam amusing though. As I referred to before I wish they both gave a lot more.

Actually to show you're not just trolling it would be good if you could show any posts where I've shown any fondness for Ty or praise for how good a player he is.

Would happily play McBean for the remainder of the season, but I believe that his card has been stamped and that his football future in football, at whatever level/standard, is at another club. Will be gone come season's end.

yep.
I have said it before that McBean shows many of the traits that so many lambast Vickery for. He just refuses or can't impose himself on a game. Lurks around contests and doesn't work hard enough.
All he had to do was read his vfl coaches reports for years now to know this was the issue but I assume he has been told it as well.

One has played 117 games, the other 5. Vickery should be offloaded at the end of the season, should have been offloaded 2 years ago. McBean needs to be given an extensive go at AFL level and if he can't prove himself then flick him off as well. If the club has always believed McBean lurks around contests and doesn't work hard enough why keep him on for 4 years? Tigers do this way too much. Keep players on the VFL list for far too long without giving them a decent go at AFL level. Why?

This was not a huge surprise.

It's also not accurate. He took 5 marks, 3 were contested.

He's no Richo, but to say that McBean doesn't/can't take contested marks is a furphy. (And yes, I've watched him live plenty of times this year)

perhaps they think with maturity and size he will improve?

if they both don't work hard enough it's a reason to give neither a game not to promote McBean. Two wrongs don't make a right.

From what I have read the guy imposing himself on contests at vfl level recently is Elton. Let's play him instead of both vickery and McBean.
