Liam McBean

Hardwick's presser indicates he's given him a 3 week window to show his wares, including this week. So he's got two more and then they'll assess his progress.

After Vickery has basically had all season, harsh. But at least he knows what he's got to do.

Didnt get much of the ball at all, will take a few weeks to get up to the speed.

One thing he did that I really liked, and in my opinion we have lacked, is that he didnt fly for every single ball. That allowed Jack to have a clear run at it without having another tall forward crash into the pack too.

Also when he did fly he brought the ball to ground really well, Griff can do this, Tyrone I feel doesnt do this enough

I don't understand why Hardwick felt the need to tell the media that Beano had 2 more games and then we'll re-assess him.
I don't remember Dimma ever saying that about any other player. Almost feels like propaganda that he was even selected.

Talk about putting unnecessary public pressure on the lad.

Absolute moron is Damien Hardwick.

At least Dimma has promised the Beanie a couple of weeks to show what he can produce, before they assess his output.

If the team can play with the same intensity and effort against Essendrugs next week as they did against the Doggies last night, there's a good chance Beanie will get some quality opportunities to step up a notch, give the fans n team something to hang the hat on.

Fairly meh effort last night, a smidgin under what I was hoping for and a million klicks of what the McJesus fans have been ranting about for years.

As a professional footballer who has had four years of learning n training at the elite level, he should be able to step in and at least fill a role to some degree, have developed some physique, presence n intensity at the contest.

Unfortunately, of the group of youngsters elevated for this game the one who has been in the system by far the longest and had the most to prove, produced the least.

Far from convinced he's got much of anything to offer, I'll be happy for the Beanie to prove me a fool simply because if he finds a bit it's good for the Tigers.

At least he kicked an AFL-quality goal yesterday, Vickery couldnt get a VFL quality one yesterday. I would much rather McBean get 6 touches in the seniors than Vickery, and he didnt get in Jack's way.

Yeah I didn't particularly like that either but the best thing Liam can do to stay in the side is perform.

yes.

Honestly at the moment it doesn't matter what Dimma says it will be wrong. The purpose of the statement was imo to state that he will be given a chance of a few weeks before he will be judged on his output. He will be picked the next two weeks no matter what. It doesn't mean that he will be dropped after that, it just means he has to earn his place in the team.

He showed some of the traits that have always worried me yesterday. Lack of intensity and lack of physicality and they are the things he really needs to get better at. These are the exact same traits that so many lambast Vickery about.

He was better in the 2nd half than the first in that area so hopefully he has learned from that.

Just one other thing. I think he looks a much better prospect when in the ruck than Ty too. Def held his own.
Yep agree with this has potential to be a ruckman. Another couple of years building his body up. I like him, just keep playing the bloke!

He'll find work tough against the Doggies defence and after such a long period out of AFL level footy.

My guess. 1.1, 9 possessions.
An astute judge of key forwards ;)

You know a bloke is crap when the best thing his supporters can say about him is that he played better than Vickery!

If he can't perform against the Bendigo Bombers this week then there really is no hope for him.

He got a hitout I cant remember if it was to advantage.

McBean was as unimpressive last night as he has been the other 2 times he's been at senior level. I think he may just be a very good VFL player who can't handle the step up. At one point (before he kicked his goal) Richo spoke about the 3 inexperienced inclusions, he had no problems wrapping up Oleg and Castagna for their efforts to that stage of the game, he got to Liam and paused clearly unable to think of any positives and wound up saying something generic that sounded vaguely complimentary. Having said that I'd still give him a few more weeks to see if he shows anything and we will at least know whether he's worth keeping or not.
