Liam McBean

Agree bigtime aboit it being a joke. About time some could discuss Liam's performances on what he actually does or doesn't do. Ty has no effect on Liam's form.

No-one is blaming Ty. It's not his fault he is being persistently being played when his form and output is so poor. I would
be confident to say that it would not be accepted, nor tolerated at local footy level. Yet we members/supporters of this AFL
club, have to accept it because the coaching panel and/or match committee says so. I have no faith in anyone in that group
to make the correct call. I base that on the fact that our best players were there before them and that any genuine young
talent that have been brought in during their tenure, have been poorly developed or worse, not developed at all.

Ok forget Tu if you can for a minute...on this thread at least. What do you think of Liam's form? So you think he's shown marked improvement this year? What are his negatives and positives? Are there any other VFL players deserving of a a spot in the seniors? Do you think he's been better in the ruck or thr forward line this year? Would that translate to AFL standard on a tegular basis?

Your prospects are dictated by how others play as well as you are competing for positions. Vickery has had an extended period of poor form, both physically and mentally. The obvious replacement is McBean. When McBean was playing really well last year the excuse for him not getting a look in was that Vickery was playing well (which he was). And that was fair enough. McBean should be playing ahead of Vickery. Can McBean transition to AFL level? How about we find out? Our season is shot anyway, it's not like we risking our season. The last few weaks, against the poorer sides would have been the perfect opportunity to blood McBean. Seems likely he's on his way out to another club. Only plausible reason for ignoring him.

He has deserved more opportunities than have been given to him. What is fact, is that when the likes of Vickery and Griff
have been in the 2nds, they were gifted games back in the AFL, on the back of "servicable" games in the VFL. Others have
mentioned on Liam's +ve's & -ve's, no need for me to repeat, suffice to say that I saw him and his housemate play as juniors.
IMO, one made it onto an AFL list on the back of his name and ability, the other, just on ability.

Do I think he can play and is of AFL standard? My opinion is moot, but I believe he is a more natural footballer than the other
talls we have, excluding Jack. There is only one way to find out. Play him. Play him when it counts, out on the 'G with the best
we have. See if he can play. See if he compliments them. See if he can be better with them. See if he can make the team better.

There is no better time, as Vickery's form, output and impact, is negligible.

Liam was named emergency a couple of weeks ago but missed selection. A petfect opportunity to really put his hand up. Instead he only managed 5 effective possessions. It's a cop out to blame his team mates when they did enough to win the game by 30 or so points.

If team mates make it hard for Liam to do well the same could br said for Ty. Our seniors haven't been playing the best footy either.

Excuses excuses.

Was never going to be picked. We all knew that. Emergency was his encouragement reward. He may have the trophy on his mantlepiece, not sure.

I wouldn't have a clue if he was going to be picked or not, and I doubt you would either, but the best way to respond to not being picked is to dominate the following week. Better than polishing encouragement awards to put on display.

The fact he was a pick 8. The Tiges have invested a lot of time, effort and money on him. Vickery is a(nother) massive bust.
The sooner the coach, match committee and some on this forum accept it, the better off the club will be. Time to move on
and see what good we can extract from this situation.

Why would the club be better off if the opinons of some of the anonymous internet posters on PRE changed ? I really don't think we have that much influence on the club.

Or when already in the team, the best way to stay in the team is to simply turn up on matchday in the case of Ty.

Liam's senior games weren't that crash hot. I'd rather him selected on his own good form.

I thought they were passable for a 200cm tall in his first and second AFL games. Wish we'd seen more of him at AFL level to be able to form a greater opinion of his ability to handle the level.

FWIW, comparison of first and second AFL games for Griffiths, Vickery and McBean:

Griffiths - 5 disposals 0 goals, 3 disposals 0 goals
Vickery - 8 disposals 1 goal, 3 disposals 0 goals
McBean - 7 disposals 0 goals, 9 disposals 0 goals (subbed in 3rd QTR of both games)

Taz can verify this, but that's incorrect, McBean looked like playing in place of the Griffanator, who appeared to be no chance 48 hours out, but to his credit got to the line and played well

100 % correct
