Re: mcbean -- birth of a legend

With all the pro Essendon media fawning over Daniher ,I can't wait for the debut of our champ McBean.
Played in Joe's side and Joe rates him very highly and is a Richmond supporter to boot.

The day he debuts will be bean mania at the G. ;D

Re: mcbean -- birth of a legend

I still think it will be sooner than many think. He is a real thinking mans footballer. Would love the challenge and imo is up to it as a forward only at this stage.

He has footy brains.

Barry Hall made some great points just then.

Even if you are bulky ,you have to have a footy brain.
Majak Daw is struggling a bit atm even though he is a big player.

Joe Daniher is only a few kgs bigger than McBean.

Re: mcbean -- birth of a legend

Will those tallying his goals be labelled "Bean Counters"??

I thought Beanie pipped him in the VFL game by a short half head. Daniher looks to be a very good lead and mark player, good skills. But Liam has him covered at ground level and in footy smarts, I think Mc Bean will end up the better player and a dead set bargain.

Re: mcbean -- birth of a legend

If I here one more Essendumb flog talk up Daniher i'll go crazy. Bloke hasn't played one game yet those halfwits think h's the next Carey.

This kid could seriously be better than Carey. Will make Essendon the force of the next decade.

Re: mcbean -- birth of a legend

Used to love the old "Richo Man" chant. I think it should be brought back "Beanie, Beanie Man, Oh how I want to be the Beanie man!"

Or the RIIIIIICCCCHOOOOOOOOO which has now become RIIIIIIIIEWWWWWDOOOOOOLLLLTTTTTTT into BEAAAAAAANNNNNNNIEEEEEEEE!

what about putting his face on McBane from the simpsons? What is his catch phrase?

I looked at them and those ones are probably the best but none reallyb relate to Beanie, The best I could find is below:

Rainer Wolfcastle: Remember when I said I'd eat you last? I lied.

A nice reference to the size Beanie needs to put on. Maybe this should be his mantra.

I believe I read they got AFL permission to train at EFC as be was a F/S and he was theirs regardless. Beannie and Joe both St Bernard's boys in the same school and EDFL team. I also read Beannie was Joe's captain in the school footy team.

From what I have heard he actually did. Mind you so could I as I live a stones throw away from windy hill and it is a public gym.

The story goes that he didn't much like school and already knew he would be drafted so he was put on a regime (Similar to O'Meara I spose) by the Essendon fitness staff to increase size and weight appropriate to what he needed.

Never been any mention of peptides and stuff and I doubt he would have received that sort of stuff as the paper trail would be even more obvious.

On the contrary Beanie developed as any other U/18 would. Hence why Daniher is ahead in terms of physical size. It's not hard to help a player you know will get drafted when you can have your medicos drop down to the gym from their offices. Technically not training with the club just at the local gym.

Re: mcbean -- birth of a legend

Saw the Beanie/Daniher shoot out at VFL level this year and came away with added appreciation of the Bean.

Joe obviously very good but still a ways off dominating games. Darrou in fact did a very good job on him. Joe was off with his kicking but had few really easy shots. Got a couple late to make his game better.

Beanie on the other hand showed all his tricks, kicking, ground play, smarts and good hands and reach.

While at the start of the year I had Daniher almost AFL ready and Beanie a two year project at least, the difference in being game ready is not huge especially as Beanie is younger and not yet 19.

If Beanie is now 93kgs, its just the upper body, arms, shoulders chest that need work and that might not prevent him debuting some time this year.
