That doesn't apply to other players though Ian.

Griff for one has never ever been consistently good. At any level.

And he's racked up 50 games.
There are PLENTY of Richmond's playing list who are being given freebie AFL games.

Just look at Morris ffs, its not hard for a "very ordinary" player at Richmond to rack
up 50 AFL games, as there is simply no one else to put in the team.

McBean should be in ahead of Hunt, Morris, Chaplin or Hampson.

IMO it is pretty simple.

agree, not on the last few games but for the same reason Menadue is getting a game week in week out on 10-12 touches. Give him a block of games, lets see what he can do. I have written 2016 off, time to see whats left in the shed and make the call to persist or delist!

We could replace Vickery with McBean and lose absolutely nothing.

Vickery doesn't crash enough packs. He doesn't fight for front spot. He doesn't know the meaning of second effort.

Sound familiar?

Give McBean Vickery's role and watch him have much more impact.

Griffiths and the Hamster can ruck.

On the Hawthorn output I'd agree with that.
Only thing we have to lose is finding out whether the Bean will make it or not as a senior player.
Just play him already.

Agree- the same demands placed on McBean simply have not been placed on others at the club, namely Vickery and Griffiths. I would love to know why.

Just play the kid- we can't any worse than we already are, and at least we'll learn something. We already know what Vickery and Griffiths offer. McBean will offer just as much (nothing) or offer a heap more. There's plenty of potential upside, and not a lot of downside by playing him.

I just don't get it.

You might lose three goals a game while Beanie adjusts.

Can't really afford that.

Though you could replace Griffiths and lose nothing.

With the ruck situation as bad as it is, why not try a mobile ruck/forward unit using Griffiths, Vickery and McBean to rotate through the middle

i could just imagine Mummy or Sandilands landing on McBean at Etihad and him ending up in the basement carpark :hihi

Sorry Sin. That's rubbish.

You're ability to impact games as a key forward is directly impacted by the amount and quality of your midfield.

Liam has produced for years now behind possibly the most inept and unskilled midfield in the VFL.

What we he be producing at VFL/AFL if he was drafted by Hawthorn?

Plugger kicked plenty with some very average midfields

Play a lot of reserves with suburban league footballers did he?

Was that Harvey bloke around then?

Why not indeed! :)

Well there is Handbrake to consider.

Phhht. Ty should have kicked six straight from his seven possessions instead of the three two n gave one away.
Not sure what he did with the other possession, guess with the way we're travelling at the moment he's allowed to completely flub one.

Crazy thing is that with Jaaack, Ty, Lids n sometimes Dusty or Cotch playing key roles down forward, we'd be nearly the worst club in the comp for giving our forwards premium opportunity to get clean one out ball instead of having to scrounge n scrap down the flanks n forward pockets for a kick.

There's been a few times against the Crows n Hawks that we launched immediately from the centre ruck contest that made life easy for our forwards but geez it's been rare in recent years.

Might gain 3.
What's to be lost at this point?
An early hit at the draft? Maybe also a trade value. If we're gunna play absolutely crap footy n get belted every week there's an early pick available. If we're gunna play crap n get beat yet Ty still manages around a forty goal season from seriously restricted opportunities, then perhaps his trade value increases if he wants assistance to play elsewhere.

Well-posted, Sin. It's difficult dealing with those cursed with messianic delusions divorced from the harsh real world.

I want all our big men to succeed at RFC. They can all improve a great deal. Bean can make it and really want to see him earn his chance and grab it. Wouldn't mind if they rested Jack to really get over that ankle as he stuffed up a lot. We are not going to even make it to 9th this year. What is the point of risking further damage to JR? But, no, it's like dumb and dumber; the brains trust will have us strive for a noble 10th or the like.

All the same, Beanie has to do more; the reports from VFL game against Port were hardly flattering.

sorry, you're correct. Griff has the better VFL form overall.

I think he is right Harry. Beanie has to do more. Maybe if he tried he could reach the heights of Morris, Griff and Hammer.

Lucky Chaplin can play forward for structure too.

Never let facts get in the way of a good fantasy, Harry. From VFL report rd. 4, last game Griff and Bean played together:

Ben Griffiths
Two goals, five contested marks, nine marks, 13 disposals

Started up forward and kicked two goals. We then moved him back and he had big impact on the game there. He took five strong, contested marks and was the dominant big man on the ground. Looks ready for another AFL opportunity.

Liam McBean
One goal, four disposals, two tackles

Had a really quiet, disappointing game, with only four disposals and one goal. Needs to work harder at the contest.

So, Harry, who do you think went up? But you'd reward Beanie for this?

At AFL against Hawks, Griff wasn't great but some good signs; similar game to Vickery statistically but rated ahead on AF points: 58/49. BTW, Hampson = 67.

sorry - was meant to quote this for my previous post

No he did not, but he did play on bog hole, ankle deep mud ( Unlike the surface at Punt road), yes Harvey was around, does not change the fact their midfield as a whole was crap, but spin it anyway you like.
