Never heard that one said .

The coach said he was not taking enough marks and his defensive pressure was not good enough, both of which were true imo. He was getting into a habit of lurking off the contest positioning himself to kick lots of goals rather than using his speed and height to mark the ball.

Fixed.

That is my recollection too Sin, particularly the defensive pressure. Beanie mentioned it on the RFC in a video interview recently.

Can't wait until mindless drone #34675 is complete.

Might've almost won a final by then.

I think it was around mid-season in one of Tim Clark's weekly written reviews. I remember thinking "well you don't expect him to play like a traditional KPP do you?".

You mean chasing your opponent when you don't have the ball and using your physical attributes to be a better player ?

He kicked 37 playing VFL. He is capable of more than that.

McBean broke his ankle at the end of 2013 season. I usually call that a twelve month injury. And ignore the following season.

As far as I'm concerned McChrist's 2014 did not take place. Or was as much as could be expected. He was 19yo for it.

My form guide says that he was precocious as an 18yo. 2014 did not take place and 2015 will see him resume his promising career as a very physically juvenile 20yo.

At any stage of his career he's had a nasty habit of kicking a goal. Good signs.

I like this kid, has footy smarts, does things a bloke of his height shouldn't be able to do, good hands, accurate kick. We need to forget about putting weight on him as it isn't going to happen. He could be our Gunston, concentrate on strength and power instead of kilos. I have my fingers crossed for this year, but won't be disappointed if we have to wait a bit longer.

Im more than happy to wait another year for the Bean, Give him 4-5 games this year for a taste and just let him develop and kill the VFL
2016 is the year we will be there or abouts

It was ligament damage JD, serious enough though. He should have a break out year this year.

yes, he'd been watching too much of vickery

Thanks, buena. I checked it but only got as far as 'had scans for', not 'confirmed'. Better news, I reckon.

I'm a big fan of mcjesus and also any thread associated with him. Don't they say your better to break am ankle than so ligament damage? Not completely sure but I thought that's what they said when I did ligaments in my ankle in the golden years (on wing against merrivale.)

Fair call, Francis. I wrote off his 2014 due to recovery and being 19yo. And he's only 20 next season. I hope he can cement a senior slot next year but it might take a bit longer. Just a pup.

It absolutely fascinates me what is going to happen with McLiam this year.
Opportunities in the forward 50 appear overcrowded with Griffiths looking to have first dibs and Vickery close behind.
Obviously he has talent but can he break his way into the senior lineup as a key forward ahead of the other two?

Might perhaps spend some of the year as relief ruckman backing up the Hamster in the magoos? Wouldn't surprise if Griffiths spends a fair bit of time continuing to develop as a ruck / utility kpp. leaving Vickery to continue mainly developing as chf.
Maric first ruck, resting mainly bench or occasional forward.
Griffiths second ruck, floating high forward or deep defence, got the pace, mobility, decision making n marking attributes for all aspects.
Vickery CHF with perhaps rare forays into the ruck just to switch things at times.
Hamster as magoos ruck, first emergency if Maric cops an injury.
Tiger Beanie to develop into a similar role as Griffiths at magoos level. Mainly forward, some ruck n perhaps some defensive hole filling.

Two years time if the big Eevan is nearly ready to be parked Griff would be ready to take the mantle ably backed by a rising Beanie. Obviously a big call but similar in structure to a Cox - NicNat pairing that Wet Coke used. Be bloody nice if we could build it.

If you build it they will come...

Yes will be interesting to see where Beanie fits into our structures...

Not sure that forward / ruck is his go TM. At least not in the medium term.

McBean is forward #3, a 200+cm uber Gunston.

Rangy. Elusive. The thing about McBean is I don't think he needs to be part of the whole Vickery / Griffiths debate.

Play him as third tall and tell him to lurk. He's ready now.

Worth a crack at least that's for sure Carts.

Just a thought process on the possible future development of our ruck n forward division Carts.
Problem for the Beanie right at this point n time is Jaaack, Ty, Griff are all ahead of him n covering all the tall forward options we can carry in the one side. We won't run all four forward at once, with a fit Maric, backed by......... yep the Hamster as the spare ruck, there's just nowhere at the moment to put the Beanie.
