Liam McBean

Let Beanie play out the season in the VFL. We can't afford to experiment the last 3 games, we need all the experienced players we can muster. Plenty of time next year for Beanie to have a solid pre-season and injury free year.

Clarke in his video said WTTE that if Beanie played at senior level they (RFC footy dept) reckon and expect he'd kick goals too.....

Obviously I'm still missing something.

He did go onto say he couldn't sustain the defensive forward pressure required at AFL.

But then again if he kicks bags of 4 or 5 who cares.

Bingo.

Coach said Mbean could kick a bag but needs to sustain defensive pressure.
I reckon he'll do a Miles - once he gets in, he'll stay in.
I don't mind the hard line on selection decisions
We don't have an old team, they play on their merits.

I don't think McBean would come in to the side and bag goals of 4 or 5 at this stage of his development, but that's just me. I would advocate playing him if we had no finals chance but we do, so I'd prefer he finish off in the 2s ready for a big season next year.

Agree. Don't see a spot for him yet anyway.

Its Dimma's opus. Goals mean 4 points often. But pressure and discipline can mean premierships.

Beanie for 2015.

Still learning he game in the second tier. His body is not yet ready for the rigors of AFL and he doesn't ruck so finding him a position is a problem right now. Bulk up a bit and a good preseason for 2105 and who knows he could be a regular in AFL.

Geez how long do talls take to develop these days?

If Dimma still hasn't picked him in 90 years' time, I'm calling farce.

Liam had his sights set on a 2014 Rd 1 or early season debut. It hasn't panned out that way so I hope he has a good unrestricted pre-season and is ready to be a consistent senior player from the opening bounce next year.

I think we should start calling Liam "Grasshopper". He certainly has needed plenty of "patience grasshopper" after hurting his ankle last season when getting very close to making his debut.

Why do folks think his body can't handle the "rigors" of AFL footy?

I've never understood this. If he's good enough he goes in.

Dimma just doesn't want an all out offensive tall in the mix. Apart from Jaaack.

agree, its weird, its as if he's the first skinny recruit in the history of the game.

Westhoff did alright. Jack when he first debuted was a rake like McBean but he still had a big impact with his smarts.

Hopefully McJesus doesn't get disillusioned with kicking bags and bags of goals at VFL 2 years in a row without getting even a little taste of senior football.

Fletcher has hardly put on a kg since he started and has played 390+ games. It's not the size that counts but the core strength and psychological strength.
