Kane McAuliffe

Thought he was big, strong and classy.

Just not involved enough. Did he play limited minutes?
75% TOG. Same as Sonsie, just less than Short and a bit more than Hopper and Graham.

Big learning experience. They have four mids his size or bigger and a decade older.

Quiet game but hasn’t been helped by Yze playing him as sub so much.

We need to keep playing him. Persist.

He's played minimal minutes over the past 4 weeks.

Hard enough for a first year player that is match fit to compete, let alone one that isn't.

Most pressure acts for the game along with Rioli. So it's not lack of trying.

The inability of our young players to impact games in any meaningful way is really worrying.

Literally every other club manages to get far more out of their kids regardless of where they drafted them than we do.

His game time management over the last 4-5 weeks has been bewildering. Barely played.
Can’t for the life of me understand what they’re trying to achieve.
Today he looked devoid of all confidence.

Seems to have been given tagging roles. Is there a tank issue? His game time this year. What's the go? Played less than 8 quarters of game time in 6 or 7 weeks.

He shows a degree of promise does Kane.

Not as much as talked up on here though To be honest.

But geez he looks to lack a yard? - which adds to an already pedestrian midfield.

Ran a 2.93 20m sprint at a combine, so I don't think that's right. Has a big leap too.

Maybe he's carrying a niggle, which could help explain the lower play time.
In his profile one of his areas of improvement was getting outside a clearance and using his pace to hurt an opposition....still work to go.

Nathan Foley was passed over in his draft year due to perception of being slow.
Went to work with running coach Bohdan Babijczuk ( as did Houli )who was surprised how fast Nathan actually was. Worked on his speed off the mark but more importantly switching his mind on to accelerate at every opportunity, especially with ball in hand. The rest is history.
McCauliffe should do the same over summer as he has the speed. Just not using it.

People questioning TOG stats?

He's a first year midfielder 7 games in. This isn't a strange thing to be building his minutes up, it's just obvious in a less than stellar team.

Not necessarily strange but Yes worth the question particularly as twice now he had a 3 week or so period when he played virtually no footy.
