Kane McAuliffe

The constant Sub is no good.
Would prefer him getting a full hitout in the VFL rather than warming the bench for 90% of the game

Dow and Sonsie accumulated a combined 2 possessions for the entire third qt, when the game was put to bed…..this kid had 2 in about his first minute on the ground. It’s a joke.

Better that Sonsie already give him a starting gig next game

Last week I said something like 'management, it's ok he can back up and have a half in VFL' - but, obviously, he didn't.

If he isn't starting because fitness, how is he going to get fitter / match fit sitting on the bench?

And if it isn't fitness, then wtf because what other reason is there - clearly the most promising young mid on the list.

All the stories of the great #4 this week, noticed that some included that he lacked fitness when drafted, but still came 4th in the B&F in year 1. Just play the highest potential kids, no point babying them through if it means they stay babies. Greatness will sort itself out, fitness or no. But they need the chance to do it.

Should be played. Not sure what Yze is thinking. imagine playing Dusty as sub in his first year.

Kane mentioned that he’d worked really hard on his fitness, and that early in the year he ran a 7.00 something 2km time trial, and in the combine he ran 6.26 I believe. So to acknowledge a weakness and work super hard on it, love that kind of work ethic. Shaved a big chunk off his time trial!
He definitely seems to not be a natural runner but may have the right attitude to correct that over time. If those numbers are correct, 6.26 in his draft year's combine wouldn't have been that far off. I think the sentiment here that Kane can't run out a game at all is probably exaggerated. The best thing for his tank is to play out games I would have thought.

Are they getting his canker up? Building a chip? Maybe he’s too nice - they want him angry for life.

In a team with only one afl level midfielder I am
Not sure why he is not getting a full game

Its stupid and not helping his or our development as a team

With the season we are having , having this kid start as sub 2 in a row is just plain stupid
I think it's 3, but I agree. We've got a few senior players (Short and Graham immediately spring to mind) that could be started as the sub, allowing McAuliffe to start on the ground. I don't know if it's all Yze's fault and how much the MC has to answer for in these decisions, but it has to improve.

We play Sonsie and Dow over this guy when he is head and shoulders better than the pair combined. Comments about his currently limited tank don't wash when worse players on on the oval who are no better in that respect. Just poor selection in my opinion
If you blended the better attributes of these two blokes, you'd more than likely end up with a Mac n cheese. Can't call him a KMac 2, kid goes hard n tuff, got skills n decision making plus enough pace. Just wish they'd give the kid some meaningful game time after the bye n let him grow a bit. Full pre season and he'll go straight past these two with nary a backward glance.

Yep, played a hell of a game in Geelong and ran out of gas but that’s fine.

Play him next to Taranto, first receiver. Less crash and bash.

But play the freaking kid.
