Juniors to watch - 2012

Really like Kennedy but the more that I think about it, Oliver Wines would be a perfect fit.
What are your thoughts on Nick Vlastuin?

I wouldnt be surprised if FJ called his name out on draft day. He seems to tick all the boxes in terms of character, leadership which our recruiting department place a fair bit of emphasis on.

Barnzy I am not so sure it's a funding issue this time. Francis is very particular who he is prepared to work with and as such, deliberately keeps his team quite small. From memory we have about 6? Could be wrong.
It is one area where I think he should be forced to have more (well credentialled) scouts.

At the G watching St Pat's and St Bernard's. I really like the look of Tanner Smith and Nick Rippon.

Ive seen all Rebels games this season and these 2 are certainly draftable. I'm not as high on Tanner Smith as I once was, but Nick Rippon is a serious player and although he is diminutive, he pretty much does everything right. He'd be a tough one to place in the draft, could even be one of those who slide right to the rookie draft.

Neade is another in the same boat really. Good opportunistic, indigenous forward who is a big game player. He is also very short though.

was watching some video and i havn't watched too much only vic metro v wa and sa v vic country but i don't think we will take kennedy. Hardwick likes contested footy types to dominate the list and i don't think kennedy rates high enough in that field. His kicking action may look pretty (like alot of left footers) but somebody compared him to kieran jack which i don't think is accurate.Im not saying he is a bad player but i think there are a couple i saw i would prefer that might be available at our pick. Oliver wines has some really good traits for eg he has a big engine, very competetive and strong. his kicking is ok not elite action is different. I wonder though can he go forward havn't seen enough of him to know. Jake stringer is one of interest to me. To be a midfielder at that size is quite exciting. He has decent smarts and looked hungry for competition. His kicking wasn't super but it's not rance like. I know he has had a bad injury but there is a lot to like if he can get a couple of pre seasons into him. I saw dayle garlett and hes preetty quick pretty good skills but i didn't see any defense from him. to offensive minded for me. one of the reasons why Cotchin is elite is because of his defensive acts are of very high standard. When he tackles it's a good one and he is just as courageos as steve morris. Nick Vlastuin hardly touched the ball in the game i saw could be many reasons for that so i can't comment on him. atm If available at our pick wines or stringer.
jack martin looked good but what have we got to offer . Gus!
we have no trade value players that we don't need

He fits the character side of things. Has been a leader at every level. And attacks the contest. Fearless and has the body size to do it at AFL level. Clearance footballer. Not the quickest getting around but is very football smart. Once he gets it, very smart with it. Great long kick. Doesn't have a lot of tricks but is a classic old school centremen. Jimmy Bartel is the closest thing to him.

Who are the other players you consider worth watching at North Ballarat skip? I know Crouch is very good but needs to wait another year.

Cheers Scoop.

For me its out of Kennedy, Vlastuin & Wines. We cant go wrong with any of those 3.

Marty Gleeson is definitely up there. Is the definition of a smooth mover and such a well balanced player. Dom Barry is also another one who I think will make it. He is a Stephen Hill, break the lines type. Does need to add some aggression and size but he has the talent. Rippon is the real underrated talent though IMO.

Crouch obviously up there too but he won't be available until next year unless he gets picked up in the 17 y/o draft.

Haven't seen much of Barry but he does look to glide across the turf, do like the look of him.

Apparently we are right into Myke Cooke

Myke can play but his kicking is horrible - wont fit in with our now very good kicking team

Just want to ask the Phantom about his thoughts and rating of Gysberts in his draft year.

Happy reading.

Fair chance Cam Symonds or Mack Byron-Pendergast are on the radar as a developing ruck for us.
