Juniors to watch - 2012

He's a ripper McCrae.

Really good standard of footy wasn't it. Some years either of those teams would probably be good enough to beat Vic Metro. Jaksch was very disapointing in the 2nd half. For some reason the coach seemed to be playing him back.

Which metro team would they beat Evo ? Not sure on that one

What are peoples thoughts on Andrew Boston. 180cm midfielder from Queensland. GC have the rights to prelist him. Not sure they have the space on their list though. They have to cut 4 to get down their list size. Then have to free up 3 spaces for the mandatory 3 picks. Plus they want Tippett and add O'Meara too which might count as one of their 3.

So pick 2, O'Meara and pick 25 or they pre-list Clay Cameron and give 25 to Adelaide as well. Presume Caddy pick goes to Adelaide for Tippett.

Could we offload pick 31 for Boston and 44 (which they won't use) They could then package 31 & 25 together to upgrade to a first rounder. Maybe ask them to throw in Brian Coleman-Broome who is a lighning fast small forward from Queensland who can kick goals from anywhere. Think he's about 182cm.

Plus we still have a pick in the 40's rather than 30's for gaining these two.

I like it :clap

Then we trade Nahas, Post and 9 to GWS for Tyson and 24. Come away with Tyson, pick 24, pick 29, pick 44, Boston and maybe Coleman-Broome (maybe an eventual replacement for Nahas?). Me likey.

What appeals to you about Boston?

I really like his versatility. Can play as a midfielder and a small forward. He's a good sized kid for this role. He has really had to carry the QLD midfield. I really think he fits the criteria of what we are looking for in terms of his kicking skills, ability to win his own ball and is apparently a high character kid from what I've heard. Not really sure where he fits but Atkins is one I really like for our pick 31 and IMO he could still be there at pick 44 so we could pick him up for free and maybe get Coleman-Broome thrown in if we wanted.

He did very well for QLD but his running times at the combine were very disappointing. In the 5, 10 and 20mtr sprints he was in the last 10% doing a bit better in the agility test.
I think he can improve in those areas.

I really like Atkins.

Think he has massive improvement left in him and will flourish in an AFL environment. Wins his own ball and doesn't waste it. Kicks goals too. Perfect type to start as a half forward and become a full time mid.

He is a must have for me.

Ahh don't get to see the times. That's disappointing because it probably diminishes his flexibility at AFL level.

So if we nab Tyson along with Knights and say also grab Atkins Scoopy would you be happy to trade Nahas cos i would.

McDonough has 4 goals at half time in the SANFL U18's, kid just knows how to kick majors.

Would be happy with McDonough in the third round.

But I have no idea where clubs rate him. Has oddles of natural talent.

Does he chase and tackle Unc?

I wouldn't have Nahas as a untouchable. Right trade I would move him. But at the same time, his role is vital and we are light on for pace. If we had to throw him in to get Tyson I would as long as GWS through a pick into the deal.

I see him in the Rockliff mold, his nouse for for a goal is uncanny.
Great crumber , great reader of play & an imposing mark for his size.

Just deadly around goals, has the most important skill of all - excellent kicking at the sticks from anywhere.

3 games on the SANFL site today if anyone is interested:

The camera is aimed at the scoreboard while play goes on... WTF?

Edit: It was half time but the scoreboard showed it was the 3rd quarter and time was counting up.

Sam Colquhoun (pronounced Colhoon) is playing. As is Nason, who has his hair back.
