Juniors to watch - 2012

From that description tigs, Kennedy is our man. What's the difference between him and Garlett?

No baggage. IMO football-wise they are both about level.

And agree Membrey will likely last longer but I like him and if the others are gone I'd snap him up provided he tests well particularly agility wise and endurance.

Garlett can do the amazing stuff that not many can but Kennedy will play at a more consistent level over a year.

IMO Kennedy can do some of the amazing too. What are your thoughts on Simpson?

Continuing on from before

3rd round I'd be looking at any of those guys that dropped through from 2nd round. Then in order Tom Lee, Shannon Taylor, Tim Sumner, Matthew McDonough, Nathan Hrovat, Max Duffy.

Tom Lee - really athletic mature age KPF from Claremont. Some mock drafts I've seen him as a 1st/2nd rounder but I think he'd still be available in the 3rd. Capable of kicking big bags of goals and taking a good mark.

Shannon Taylor - small forward/winger with inconsistent skills. Can be very good some days and float them the others. Some talk he may have OP so could explain the kicking. A year ago I was hoping he'd last to our compo this year so to get him here I'd be happy. Player comparison: Quicker and potentially a better kicking version of Shane Edwards.

Tim Sumner - Tall, lanky x-factor half-forward type. Really good skills. Gets a huge number of inside 50's at SANFL under 18 level. Kicked a bag of 8 this year so can hit the scoreboard and is starting to hit the scoreboard. Player Comparison: As a forward he is what Troy Taylor should have been but can also be a productive midfielder.

Matthew McDonough - unfashionable small forward. Short and stocky but has a good football brain, very strong and good skills. Showed at under 18's he can go into the midfield and find the footy. Player comparison: Porplyzia but potentially Chapman if he can play more up the field.

Nathan Hrovat - small, nuggety inside midfielder who just racked up the ball. Like Kennedy his only real fault is his size (174cm) Can't deny his elite kicking or ball winning though and has decent speed. Player Comparison: Sam Mitchell.

Max Duffy - 19year old rangy HFF with x-factor. Kicked 33 goals already this year in the WAFL seniors. Only missed last year due to attitude issues and seems to have been the kick up the backside he needed. Player comparison: Stevie J

You talking about 3rd round or our 3rd pick Tigs?

Cant see McDonough lasting to the 3rd round, that Hrovat is an interesting one- a real go getter type who may slip as you said for his size but the kid looks good.

Another I think will be looked at closely is Lonergan from Tassie, not sure where he fits in but looks a likely type I reckon- 86kegs @ 183cm 17 yo & fit as a fiddle!

3rd round. Haven't seen a lot of lonergan. How do u rate his kicking?

McDonough I think is a mid 2nd onwards. Not the most fashionable player but could be a bargain.

On Lonergan not sure of his kicking ,going off what I was told & that he had been impressing for awhile and had been playing @ state level over there.Think he only played 1 or 2 champ games but was told he moves well.
Was an article about him on the AFL site not too long ago which is probably worth a read aswell.

On McDonough, can never blame a recruiter for taking a kid with the knack of kicking goals. Tom Rockliff is the perfect example of over looking talent for body shape/athletic types.

Lonergan added some goal kicking to his repertoire during champs. Will be interesting to see where he lands. Just not sold on his kicking from what I've heard but don't wanna pot the kid when I've barely seen him.

Rockliff is potentially a good comparison for McDonough and even he slid. I think McDonough will be a good player but not sure he will be the most highly sort after. Atkins in my list of 2nd rounders is in a similar boat. Just a good footballer without any really special attributes but good at everything. Same with Hrovat. These guys could all be bargains.

Had a look at the pocket rockets on the Demetriou website and there are some real nice types in amongst those kids- Kennedy, Colquhoun, Hrovat, Neade, Anderson & the kid I rate Tipungwuti.
Plenty of of other dynamic smalls in there too that should slip down the draft order one would think.

Like him a lot, rangy type who is a long strider and eats up the ground. Reminds me of Stephen Hill.

Kennedy would be an option, Evo hes been touted for the RFC in some phantom drafts already, pacey ball winner inside and out with skill and kicks goals.

Likely upgrade on King, Nahas, Houli, Edwards and White right there.

Ben Kennedy would be a good get for us. Seems achievable.

I am a huge fan. Has burn people off pace. And can finish. Thumping kick. Quick low and long.

Would work well with the Chimp.
