Juniors to watch - 2012

Josh Simpson certainly has some talent. My main conern with him though at this stage is that he dosent get enough of it and appears very outside. I am more confident in Gartlett's onfield impact than Simpson's. He could be the next Lewis Jetta or Richard Tambling (sorry Josh).......not sure we are in the position to be able to take the risk. I would be excited but very nervous at the same if we took him, by reports though likely to go inside 10 which means we may miss out anyways.

You are not concerned about the go home factor considering he left SA to go back to WA to be closer to his family?

I have a couple of questions

Are you looking just looking for convenient reasons not to draft someone?
Are you sure that is the reason he switched states? My understanding is very different.

He's a gun player and one of the more sensible youngsters in this years draftees and is very focused on being an AFL footballer.

I like Simpson. Moves so well and already is a good size. Has breakaway pace from the contest and uses it very well.

Think on draft day he will go top 12 for sure. Pace, skill, contested footy and a tad of magic. Lot to work with.

I don't know the background of this kid. I recently read an article about him and in it it stated that he left SA to go back home to WA to be closer to his family. That just got me thinking about 'the go home factor' and hence why I asked you the question.

What are peoples thoughts on Jake Stringer? Some suggest he is the closest thing to Pavlcih whilst others suggest he could be another Jack Darling type. He also seems to be a player who polarises peoples views on where he will be taken in the draft. There are still obvious concerns about whether he has/will recover from the broken leg he suffered last year.

On football ability he is a great prospect but I question if his focus on the demands of an AFL footballer can be maintained. He could very well test the patience of some.

Gus, am I out of line in saying that Garlett is the closest thing to Cyril Rioli we haave ever seen? Watching Cyril tonight, espically around the centre square, I am reminded of Garlett.

I can't say that I share that view and Cyril seems to be one of a kind but it's an interesting observation. Garlett is very quick but even he doesn't have the same explosive pace as Cyril I wouldn't have thought.

We should pick him.

Would you take him with our first pick Evo or would you go mid?

Yeah, I would. Although we desperately need a mid, I think he is too good to pass. He's the next Goddard or Pav I suspect. That he has broken his leg means he could drop in our lap.

Similar to Selwood dropping to 5th spot when he shoulda gone #1

Personally have him in the 10-20 range. But interestingly TAC Future Stars don't have him 1st round and considering that show just pumps up TAC players I found that odd.

As it stands now we have pick 9, 29 & 31.

If the right player was available I'd have that 1st round pick firmly on the table.

Big call Uncle considering some of the talent on offer at our pick. Would you offer it up for Caddy?
