Caddy cost us Jy Simpkin. Barlow was free.

Barlow would have cost us our last pick in the ND. Garthwaite.

so we could have Barlow and Simpkin or Caddy and Garthwaite.

Can do much better than Caddy, the idea behind Barlow was to get the position stitched up for 2017 and then throw the cheque book at Rocky.

Is Rocky still available?

Reckon he will still leave?

Didn't 17 other teams pass on Rocky?

Didn't his own club try get rid of him?

Would it have effected retaining dusty?

Who else might we snagg this year instead?

Is a one year stop gap in our long term player and list development interest?

Loads of variables!

Ow. That hurt. I love Garthwaite.

Ok. But Garthwaite would have slipped through to the rookie draft. ;D

Think we needed a ready made AFL footballer to load up at another shot at finals. A gamble on another kid would have made more sense with keeping pick 6 and accepting no finals this year and the stream on consequences that go with it.

Caddy potentially fixes now and future!

Simpkin draft pick 12 so never a n alternative to Caddy.
Caddy swap was was round 2 pick 24/26, Brandan Parfitt
Our pick 6/7 - (Jack Scrimshaw) went to pay for Dion Prestia
Both release some pressure from Cotch and Dusty and were reasonable trades so far

Not really a Tyrone replacement I wouldn't have thought.

He is actually, we have swapped the 3rd tall for a medium that Caddy is playing.

BTW, as a long time knocker of Caddy right back to his draft year, he is doing what we paid him for.

A fully exposed component for a mid 20's pick. His is what you get, and is fulfilling that. No more no less.

We definitely needed the mature players to make the finals, ninja. My pot at the time was that we were selling the farm to finish seventh again. Hopefully we're going to do better than that.

My bungle, billy. Rumour has it that Clarke's pick at #25ish wasn't Parfitt. (Nor obviously Simpkin.) The name is about but I've buggered up who it was.

And yes, Scrimshaw was apparently his pop at #7.

On the trades so far, they look ok.

He's very mobile and busy for a #3 forward. It's shrewd use of him.

Thats fair Jack. Was hard to have any faith that we where close enough to just prop up the list after last year! I certainly didn't think we would bounce back. But the club had invested so much into the Harwick era up till then, I though we needed to roll the dice one more time and see if we could go to the next level. Finish what we started, rather than start again!

Always thought we where just a couple of decent AFL player's short of taking the next step.

Caddy, Prestia and Knackers are that in my opinion. Add the attacking game style, Danny and the baby mossies. Lot more to be hopeful about this year! But the real season starts now for us.

Re: Welcome to Tigerland - Josh Caddy

I keep hearing the reference to Caddy as another bull, like Dusty.

I'm yet to see Caddy do anything that puts his body on the line.

Maybe I'm being harsh on him, but for his size he should be contesting far more than he has.

I never doubted that we would bounce back, ninja. To seventh. Through selling draft choices and the chance at the big prize. For a return of guaranteed just-above mediocrity. For survival.

Courtesy of some surprising drafting boons (The Prince. Butler and George, maybe Stengle), some injury Lazaruses, and a brilliant restructure we may be headed for better than that.

Interesting times. Happy too.

Hrs willing, just can't get the body to the line in time.

Re: Welcome to Tigerland - Josh Caddy

biggest negative for me , looks slow and easy to beat when we haven't got the ball ,

Which kind of goes against , a major factor in what team selection is supposed to be about now ?

true. we wouldnt have Stengle then, but no loss, hey? ;D

Re: Welcome to Tigerland - Josh Caddy

Yep, slow, lateral movement of a Hummer. BUT, really footy smart, and never never looked like getting bowled over in the square just before he slammed through the winner. I kinda like him. Even with the way is now, he improves us a bit.

Re: Welcome to Tigerland - Josh Caddy

I never noticed his lack of speed at Geelong.

I hope that's more of a positive for our speedy forward line now.

A real competitor though happy to have him in our side for now.

Re: Welcome to Tigerland - Josh Caddy

Miles would scorch him in a race. Reckon maric would beat him.

Re: Welcome to Tigerland - Josh Caddy

I know its 6.5 years old but tis interesting to look back at the results of the 2010 AFL draft combine:

Beep test/shuttle run

1 Hayden Hector 15 7 (record)
=2 Andrew Gaff 15 3
=2 Joel Wilkinson 15 3
=4 Jacob Gilbee 15 1
=4 Ryan Brabazon 15 1
6 Dyson Heppell 14 13
7 Cameron O'Shea 14 10
8 Josh Caddy 14 9

3km time trial result (mins:secs)

1 Andrew Gaff 10:00
2 Cameron O'Shea 10:03
3 Hayden Hector 10:04
4 Jamie Cripps 10:15
5 Jack Newnes 10:16
6 Rohan Bewick 10:18
7 Joel Wilkinson 10:26
=8 Josh Caddy 10:33

Clean hands test Score (Efficiency %)

=1 Josh Caddy 28/30 93
=1 Dyson Heppell 28/30 93
=3 Mitch Wallis 27/30 90
=3 Josh Farmer 27/30 90
=3 Jarryd Lyons 27/30 90
=3 Tom Hickey 27/30 90

16 Josh Caddy (Northern Knights, Vic) 186, 82, 28/09/92 Powerful player who wins clearances and contested marks. Dangerous forward who attacks ball aggresively. Kicked 22 goals and averaged 21 disposlas for the Knights this year. All Aust U18's 2010.

11. Gold Coast - Josh Caddy (18, medium midfielder, Northern Knights)
Resembles: Joel Selwood (Geelong)
The Suns will load up on inside grunt at some point and Caddy is a powerful clearance machine. Crashes and bashes a bit so the question is whether there is enough athleticism and speed.

Earlier in the day, the Draft Combine conducted Matthew Lloyd's new handball test which was equally won by The Northern Knights’ Josh Caddy and Gippsland Power’s Dyson Heppell with an efficiency rating of 93 per cent.

Re: Welcome to Tigerland - Josh Caddy

Another wasted pick. Looks like he's been at Sizzlers for pre season. Needs to lose about 4-5 kilos to have any effect in games. Lazy, slow and adds nothing to the team. Him and Prestia have been a big waste and have nothing to do with our wins. Could just as easily have Miles or Lloyd playing the same role with more output.
