Josh Caddy

Re: Welcome to Tigerland - Josh Caddy

The number is 450 ish. Take that to the bank. Average wage is 310 ish and Caddy is elite for the role he plays. Value for money is fine. And if he ends up kicking 30 it's a great result.

We got in a player who fits our age bracket, ready to play his best footy, who improves our top 10 for a mid second round pick. And he is playing his role perfectly while freeing up others to flourish. It's not era defining trade, not many are. And those that do, are normally on the wrong side of the ledger (See C.Judd to Carlton) but this trade improves your mid tier talent and allows your top end to take less of the burden. That's a tick.

Re: Welcome to Tigerland - Josh Caddy

Caddy works in our team because he is surrounded my speed machines, he is also keeping Lloyd and Lennon out as we can only carry very few players of his ilk.

On the plus side he is the best relief midfielder we have out of all of our hybrid forwards and he is also the biggest threat in the air other than Jack.

It is all about team balance, and Caddy has a little bit of polish and X factor and is doing his job at the moment.

How much midfield time is he getting Jack?

I haven't got the numbers, tim, but he was at plenty of stoppages on Sunday. A third? A half of them?

Partly we seemed to be running more of our second-tier set up against Brisbane. For exposure and perhaps due to Martin's injury. (Perhaps there was no injury and we were running it anyway.) Partly Caddy lifted. So maybe he earned more midfield time.

More than adequate ATM, SCOOP. And 450 is enough to make any journeyman player jump ship.

Agree, niko. These are the inverse of the reasons Geelong should've moved him on and did.

There's one thing that Josh Caddy offers that we desperately needed that's not being mentioned. He's an AFL-class player. We don't currently have 22 of them and we had even fewer last year. He's a senior player.

Caddy is getting midfield time with us. We were good to our word on that.

The numbers about Dusty sound right, funky. How do they compare with 650k for Caddy? Cyril Rioli wouldn't be on 650k.

Caddy will be on 400 at a guess. Maybe, as Niko says, 450k. He'd have been on 300 odd with Geelong. And 200k odd with GC.

Thanks, Niko. (I left out the Bears game. :eek:ld)

I don't think I ever got around to nailing my point about Caddy. He should have at least six goals by now, even underdone, and be on target for thirty. Gotta kick straight. (Lair.)

Last week he had to pull his finger out. He did. Now he has to pull his head in. And kick straight. Instructions a bit more complicated - finger out, head in.
agree as well hard to believe he would be in 650
Massive money for a part time midfielder but was curios
What some pre people thought , thanks for your input.

They might have him on a front end loaded contract paying $650K in the first year and then $385K for each of the following 3 years. Averages out at about $450K per year but helps with high contract for Martin

Re: Welcome to Tigerland - Josh Caddy

I dont mind the role hes playing at the moment.

But it seems to me, he plays like a 200cm bloke below his knees.

In a clinch, he does alot of soccering footwork with the ball. He sort of protects the ball with his feet till a little bloke gets there.

Its like hes chanelling David Pocock, doing a spanish sword dance.

Its ugly, but effective.

Re: Welcome to Tigerland - Josh Caddy

Best game for the club. Thought he was the player who did the most 'Oliver-esque' things. A lot of good little handballs and touches to advantage. Also making a habit of kicking match winning goals.

Re: Welcome to Tigerland - Josh Caddy

Slower then a 3 wheel tracker. But he is a very smart footballer.

Re: Welcome to Tigerland - Josh Caddy

Liked his cleanliness in the wet. Also puts the dinky kick off the ground to good effect.

Re: Welcome to Tigerland - Josh Caddy

He plays the perfect foil to our 3 man mosquito fleet. Slow as a wet week, but built like a tank and won't budge when goes for the ball. That last goal I knew the Demons player would bounce off Caddy and he would be left standing to kick the sealer.

Re: Welcome to Tigerland - Josh Caddy

Love what he brings to the side. Yes it was his best game but I have enjoyed all of his games. I'm not expecting him to be A grade. He just needs to be Dusty's support act and he is doing that well.

Re: Welcome to Tigerland - Josh Caddy

9 clangers for the game, really needs to improve this aspect of his game.

Re: Welcome to Tigerland - Josh Caddy

Slow maybe but good tonight. He's not the only slow footballer around. Rocky, Priddis and Barlow all glacial but go alright!

Re: Welcome to Tigerland - Josh Caddy

21 disposals, 11 contested. 8 clearances, 5 tackles, 4 R50, 2I50, 1 goal.
9 clangers (equal high for us with Dusty)

Loving his work. We needed a second bull. I'd have liked Oliver or Wines more, but can't help bad luck.

Re: Welcome to Tigerland - Josh Caddy

yep, very good game this week. Kinda surprised he had 9 clangers. Seemed to be generally pretty sure-handed I thought.

Will be a good big game player I suspect. I respect players who rarely lose their feet.

Re: Welcome to Tigerland - Josh Caddy

Building into the team well, will be a solid second tier player for us, helps take some of that load off Cotch n Dusty. Contributing well to our overall performances.

This has annoyed me a little so far with Caddy.... I want him using his body crashing packs and getting down to pick it up and extract
