Josh Caddy

Re: Welcome to Tigerland - Josh Caddy

I reckon Caddy a lot more midfield to gives us another big body to combat the size of the demon mids.

He was strong at the contest and was a big player in shifting the momentum of the midfield battle. Even if he wasn't winning the footy in tight his size enabled him to move the footy forward. Something Miles would have struggled to do given the amount of size he would have given away.

Re: Welcome to Tigerland - Josh Caddy

He's going okay, nothing more. It is frustrating to see him going through the midfield. He is probably the slowest midfielder on the list, and it showed last night. Not just by foot, but in body. He takes so long to get himself over the ball, or into a tackle. It might be the 40 kg of muscle on each arm, but he does play small like a big bloke. And if the opposition get separation, he's out of the contest.

Miles should be playing mid ahead of him. At least he's quick on the inside, if similar on the outside.

And Miles is by far the superior clearance player, and so much cleaner.

Re: Welcome to Tigerland - Josh Caddy

Questions marks over Caddy. Some will argue that he has brought something to the team (cameo performances perhaps), but my reckoning is that he has been pretty underwhelming and certainly hasn't lived up to the hype that surrounded his recruitment from Geelong. His first half against Melbourne was pretty ordinary.

Not sure there was a lot of hype. Seems to be delivering exactly what he did at Geelong. He is bloody slow but as Evo says he stays on his feet and he has a lovely one handed pick up.

Re: Welcome to Tigerland - Josh Caddy

in the first half, i thought he was an abomination. And in the second half, i thought he was really good.

I think its where he plays. In space, in the forward line, his slowness is magnified. But when theres no space, inside mid, his strength is magnified.

yeah, I think we got exactly what we paid for. Which is rare for Richmond - usually players we give up second rounders for are utter spuds or don't even play!

Re: Welcome to Tigerland - Josh Caddy

His errors and shortcomings seem to be glaringly exposed when watching games, but the stats sheet says he had a terrific match.

Loving his work. We needed a second bull. I'd have liked Oliver or Wines more, but can't help bad luck.

Oliver is a machine. The game was so hot last night in the contests but he still managed to pull out 19 contested but maintain 75% disposal efficiency. In the wet. And he's only 19.

Re: Welcome to Tigerland - Josh Caddy

Big part of that win. Being underrated around here!

No Prestia and caddy this year and I doubt we win all 5 of those games! Would have beaten Carlton in 2013 and north in 2015 with both playing I reckon!

Those two and Knackers have filled the gap between our best 4 and the remaining starting 22. Sides no longer only worry about Jack cotch n dusty!

Agree easy I thought his first half was terrible. Made a lot of mistakes and is as slow as a wet week. Seriously slow.

But he played more to his strengths in the 2nd half and was an important contributor. A much better inside mid than a forward.

You can all *smile* and moan about caddy but he's an upgrade on Tyrone..............

Not really a Tyrone replacement I wouldn't have thought.

Yep, he's squeezed Sam Lloyd out.

I think it's the flexibility he provides that gives him the edge. Compared to Barlow it's 25 touches vs 18, 0.4 goals vs 0.8, goal assists 1 vs 0.2.

He's pretty good close to goal where he doesn't have to run and he knows where they are. Other than that the 'plodder' tag is there for all to see.

Can do much better than Caddy, the idea behind Barlow was to get the position stitched up for 2017 and then throw the cheque book at Rocky.

Caddy cost us Jy Simpkin. Barlow was free.
