So we used a pick 26 to get a guy who was originally pick 7, is mature, slotted straight in, has many years to go in his career, and who is doing pretty well kicking goals and chopping out for Dusty and Chimper in the midfield to good effect.

This is the glass half full perspective which I personally prefer, but if you want get your kicks out of complaining about it go for your life son.
Fair enough, I'll "complain", you take the high moral ground of superiority. I've heard the view is good up there....

Why so salty TT?

Re: Welcome to Tigerland - Josh Caddy

I really struggle with Caddy. Would have preferred trying to land Jack Steele or just use the pick on a young bloke. I find him extremely overrated and struggles when the chips are down.

He is here now so hopefully he can live up to the hype but I won't hold my breath

Re: Welcome to Tigerland - Josh Caddy

The ONLY reason Caddy didnt get more midfield at the cattery is because, he didnt do enough when in there. He is an ok footballer, i think what ya see now is what he will be forever, be that good or bad.

Re: Welcome to Tigerland - Josh Caddy

I'd like to see him get a bit more of the ball, but he has been playing forward a lot which can be a bit of a graveyard.
He is a really good team player though, he put on two really good blocks in the third quarter against Collingwood which allowed Jack to take two marks and kick two goals. Without that awareness to block it's doubtful whether Jack takes those two marks. I reckon those two blocks were crucial to us winning as they were momentum turning.

I also thought he was very good in the last quarter against the Eagles when he spent a bit more time in the midfield.

The voice of experience. Thank you, acatman.

Re: Welcome to Tigerland - Josh Caddy

I think Caddy has played his role crashes in lays tackles allows Dusty flexability to rotate forward and mid always kicks the ball forward and generally to a dangerous spot.

No I really don't believe that is the only reason. Before Dangerfield arrived he was getting much more midfield time. I really think he's not getting midfield time now as he is more valuable atm as a strong bodied forward which includes making pathways for other forwards. Whether it ends up working well is another question, but it me it is reasonably clear why he isn't getting more midfield time.

Ok ok, I get it now.we used pick 26 (and a nice contract to prise him away from his previous club) on him out on a guy who wants (expected) to play as a mid to but instead he's being played as a forward (who's kicked 2 goals in 3 games) with limited impact elsewhere and he's apparently not good enough to get a spot in our midfield but will become good insurance later in the season. A guy who was pick 7 and is now in his prime at 24 and 100 games under his belt.

Oh, and it's only when we start losing can we question this. Got it.

Nailed it tt

This. I watched the West coast replay today. I agree he wasn't as offensively damaging as he could be but he was still important at crashing packs, nice dishes and popped up to do something when required (the pick up at the death on the wing is an example).

Re: Welcome to Tigerland - Josh Caddy

not sure why people are so down on him? Caddy allows guys like Martin, Cotchin and others more flexibility and space and that is evident by their performances. I'm not saying it's all because of Caddy - and yes he could improve - but he's playing his role in a team that is showing some balance.

Re: Welcome to Tigerland - Josh Caddy

How does caddy help cotchin and martin when he's stuck in the forward line?

clearly the opposition are worried about him, so are letting Martin and Cotch run free.

Re: Welcome to Tigerland - Josh Caddy

Have to laugh, we pay a pick in the mid 20's for someone who gets 18-20 touches and a goal game. Terrible.

We draft someone at six and they have one good week of 20 touches and there is bouquets of platitude thrown around.

Stay crazy PRE, stay crazy.
