JON gone at years End...

Surely Freo will be interested? Even though JON has been a complete dud the aura of being pick no. 8 and being a WA boy may still appeal to Freo ( or WCE)? God I hope so! We still might get something out of him after all!

I dont think either Freo or WCE would even want JON as the guy that wears their mascott suit before the games :cutelaugh

JON has clearly been a mistake. Hard to argue this. The guy often struggles at VFL level let alone AFL level. Is a little like a rabbit frozen by car headlights when he gets onto the big stage. Hindsight is a wonderful thing though and I do think our recruitment process has improved somewhat in the last few years. We do still seem to give away too many draft picks for ready-made players but this has been partly mandated by the lack of a whole age group due to the very poor recruiting of the prior past.

Next few years of recruiting after this year will be very interesting. Think it will require some very very astute talent scouting to get any quality out of the compromised drafts.

Stupid thread. :rofl :hihi

However, when you look back at his reputation (highly rated youngster) and draft camp results before he came to us, you would what all went wrong. If a couple of these players came on like we hoped such as Hughes, JON, Schulz, etc then we wouldn't be in the mess we're in right now. So many mistakes over the journey.

I keep thinking that Miller before he left had given JON a three year contract which would mean he is contracted for next year. Can someone please confirm that I am so very very wrong?

Not sure about chopping JON.

I'm seeing
Johnno
Brown
Bowdo
Simmo
Pettifer
Sylvester

maybe trade raines and schulz

then Patto, Connors, Thompson Coughlan and Tuck aren't safe either

Do we really want to chuck out a fast 21 year old number 8 pick?
I say the same thing about Hughes.

We'll be going very late into the draft to replace them.

How about another year when we have less guys in front of them?

I am a really big fan of JON's and have stuck up for him many times with regard to his efforts to improve himself and his great workrate to offer up leads.

However unless he has Richie's hypno or is played at full forward I really don't think his thought process will improve enough for him to make it.

Strong lead, strong mark, pacy and not a bad kick in front when he backs himself so maybe offers a speedy tall option at ff if needed but think I may be clutching at straws and his cards is stamped as GONE.

Just wish Cleaver, Srage and co had his work ethic.

Definitely out of contract at the end of this season... from the horse's mouth.

A dud is a dud. Whether they're pick #8 or pick #88. Cut our losses and move on.

The loss of Ebert comes after rookie list players Tim Houlihan and Jarrad Oakley-Nicholls were told their contracts will not be renewed for 2012.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

and boy theres some post even on this page, that i reckon a couple of posters wish they could take back.

How could anyone be a big fan of his.

He was even twice as bad as Farmer is now.

Didnt West Coast insinuate that RFC didnt develop JON? Therefore one could ask did WC fail to develop him too?

Basically the media insinuated that we had failed to identify the he was dsylexic/couldn't read or something along those lines.

Interesting to see Houlihan go.

Injuries cut him down. Was highly regarded at the Eagles.

This was true, we failed at this, what west coast failed at realising is, regardless of an education, he was a terrible AFL footballer.
