I reckon Schulz is a better bet than Meyer.

That is a very good question.

I don't think I have ever seen Sarge look like he is busting his back, giving it his all. I would like to see him come off the great just spent, nothing left in the tank.

Re: Jay Schulz

:hihi :hihi :hihi Given half a chance to settle into one position either back or forward for just some time might just make the guy the player he could be. Stop stuffing around with him being so young and let him settle into a position for a considerable time. Yes he has had injuries but im confident that without injuries this year he will go onto be a integral part of this team - hopefully it is up forward where he belongs but that is just my opinion. Agree with struggs that he needs to add more desperation to his game but up forward he would not be on his pat malone there especially in the defensive chasing side of the game - and consistently!

Ive said it once and ill say it again (even iit does hurt me to say it) but Jay Schulz seems to me to be a victim othe Richo orientated era. Luckily he is 21 and has time.... but the amount otimes ive seen players ignore Jay on a great lead Richo in a contest is disturbing....me Jay is a better kick and possibly could be a better mark than the great man...however i think his time will only come when Richo has up :'(

To suggest Schulz is a better mark than Richo is bordering on bizarre.
Contested or uncontested Richo is in an elite category.

Jay still has it all ahead ohim in my opinion.
His cameos have teased the senses, but he has also been disappointing many times.
I reckon he is a tryer, but needs to add a new level odesperation to his game.
He comes across a little as an ambler who takes the game in his stride.
I'd like to see some vengeance in his attack on the footy.

Agree. Has some of the tools, but the application is what's missing imo. Turns it off and on too much.

I've got this theory on people like him who get around half shaven all the time: they're lazy.

And perhaps not the brightest bauble in the box - that'd explain a bit. IOW - his bodily assets are fine, but you still need a damn good footy brain to drive em - instincts are also good - if you got em!? Seriously hope I'm withdrawing this at season's end, but I'm not seeing any "edge" in his game. If he has an edge, bring it on in 2007! Hell, we could use a serious KPP about now.............

oh come on oldie people blame richo for schulzs inadequacies when the real problem is if he had half a footy brain he would be dangerous. if we are talking about players showing glimpses meyer wins hands down.

2007 is when the Jay curve will start to rise exponentially.

Glimpes? Jay kicked 6 goals in one match, how's that for a "glimpse" of his talent!

Lol. Nice one Benny,
I just caught a glimpse of that as you knocked it out of the park.

I'm sure the ol' and 'he's done nothing since' will come out but we'll see.

Thats exactly what it was...'a glimpse' thats yet to be repeated after 3 more seasons!!

John Georgiadies kicked 9 on debut for the Bulldags in the 80s.....remember him?

The night Jay kicked 6, Richo didn't play remember. Schulz WAS THE KEY FORWARD,
He hasn't kicked 6 again in the seniors but he did a few times last year at Coburg (again when he was the key focal point).
In his first few games back in the seniors (when Richo was out again) last year he mustered halls of 2 & 3 abnd his form tapered again when Richardson returned.
I reckon it won't be long before Jay doesn't have to hang his hat on that gabba performance again, but he has shown what he's capable of.

Yes he has T0Oots.......its called a glimpse!!

One 6 goal haul and a few minor cameos don't equal consistency, its not sledging the bloke, its a fact!
He has struggled for fitness due to injury, but thats not a get out of jail for free card either.
At some stage he needs to produce greater results on a more regular basis to become the player we want him to be.

No argument but with respect this conversation started with a Meyer/Schulz comparison and Clawsy argued DM has shown more 'glimpses' of talent which I and others dispute.
I hope they both go on to be great players for the RFC but it's a big year for both of them.

ah cmon oldie meyer has been in the system f ive minutes schulz has been there 5 yrs. schulz inconsistency is almost krakouer like the only thing saving him atm is hes a tall. if after another 2 yrs danny meyer is at the same level hes at now the krakouer thread will pale into insignificance.

Sarge has been there 4 years Clawsy and the last two he's had serious injuries(shoulder & ankle). Jay has plenty of pressure on him this season but I'll only judge him negatively if he fails top fire when he's fully fit. I don't think we've seen that for the last two years.
My Store has been there 2 seasons now and is behind the 8 ball with an abundance of similar kids putting pressure on his position in the seniors. You'll be pleased to know he was "Petiffer like"(the old one) yesterday according to crackertiger's reports.
Unless Meyer picks up his act, he won't be there in two years. I don't think the TW will be affording him as much time as Frawley did Krak.

I agree, at last no-one gets a free ride anymore at RFC. The age of more duds available than possible delisting spots is finally over. If players don't perform then they are now gone because at seasons end we will be looking for players to turn over rather than players standing their holding placards with the words "Pick Me" on it.

Players will need to take any chances that they are given that is for sure.

I'd love to think we could say this is our CHB for the next 10 years but I think more realistically I hope both boys can do jobs at both ends
