Jay Schulz [Merged]

Goodbye! All he's good for is getting in Richo's way. Trade for whatever can be got.

Lost patience with his sheer laziness, lack of second efforts and non existent defensive qualities. He'll be one of those sportsmen in 20 years time that will regret not having given the AFL bigtime his best shot.

Drop and don't play him again. Replace with Hughes for the rest of the season.

too many leads he was following Richo and running into him. another week but needs to up it a notch

Stop whingeing about him and trying him down back.
That was Wallace's original plan anyway when he first took over...remember he was playing on Hammill when he got drilled into the Dome turf and got injured?
Schulz was going to be our answer for CHB.

Geez usually he doesn't chase or run hard enough but today's game was a step in the right direction.

Didn't you notice his one percenters in the first quarter? The second effort that resulted in Edwards' goal? The leads to the wing?

Schulz has a way to go yet but today was a positive step. He has been chasing and doing the team things for about 3 weeks now and usually gets about 2 goals, he has improved on last year but not by enough yet.

You shouldn't bag him when he plays better than usual though, he just needs to continue improving like he is (and I think it's pretty clear that he is a more rounded player atm than this time last year or even earlier this year).

he got ripped apart by brad miller playing down back and got 6 kicked on him

now try to imagine a decent afl forward on him

no thanks!

Been in the system to long should have been delisted when his drunkenness cost them sponsorship. What did they do ? resigned him. I rate that one up there with the decision to resign Tambling for 3 years .....laughable.

Stats say 7 kicks 4 handballs, (to be fair, double his normal efforts). How did he perform for I didn't see the game

Has only done better twice in 48 games (1 x 13 and 1 x 12).

Hughes has already done better three times in his 8 games. Why Schulz plays in front of him is a mystery to me.
Jack kicks 3 goals in his third game and Sarge has only done it three times in his 48 games.

Three tall forwards, two look like they have potential and the other ..............

In fairness to Schulz it is hard to play along side Richo. Richo keeps getting in his way, JR was just lucky Richo didn't get in his way.

It's similar situation down at the Saints - Reiwoldt, Gehrig And Kossie just can't play in the same team together as they are forever getting in each others way.

correct - they only play with one football and Richo commands it every time

JR *did* get in Richo's way, and vice versa a number of times.

It's fascinating to watch Schulz and Richo in the forward line together. They both start in different places, and end up at the ball at the same time. Most of the time, because Richo has drifted into Jay's turf.

I love Richo as much as the next guy, but he's undisciplined when it comes to forward line structure. He needs to own a certain area, and STAY THE *smile* IN IT. This will then open up our forward line, give the midfielders more options to kick to, and let the other talls do their stuff.

Jay played a reasonable game today, liked his work rate despite the rubbish delivery, and being steamrolled by Richo every second entry inside 50.

He has been played out of the square mostly next to Richo, and those 2 keep falling over each other. He looked pretty good when he ran out to the wing. Took a few marks and linked up well passing into the forward line.

Perhaps he would be a better option at CHF than back in the goal square.

The Tigers list is already full of midgets, I would get rid of 6 or 8 of them before Jay goes.

Exactly right, twice in the first quarter, Richo should have blocked for Jay, but he dives or flies into him and spoils him way too often.

If the roles were reversed and Jay (or anyone) did that to Richo, he would go off his rocker!

Agree, good post, well said.

I'm surprised they don't work ok together.

Richo always tends to lead wide.

Jay actually leads a lot straighter.

I wonder why they can't start from their and then work up a plan.

Schulz is in the Jason Blake, Courtney Johns catergory. *smile*!! If Richmond dont delist him to make more space for Riewoldt then Richmond may as well engrave the next 2 or 3 wooden spoons in. Has done nothing but cost the club its sponsorship.

It's a Wizard of Oz forward line.

Richo = Scare Crow (gets the stuffing knocked out of him)
Schulz = Tin Man (rusty can't run)
Brown = Dorothy (good looking broad)
Pettifer = Lion (no courage)
Krakouer = Toto (goes missing)

If they only had a brain! :hihi
