Geez he reminds me of Jamie Tape. Skilled, Tough as nails and composed under pressure. Well done to the lad.
get some vision of Graham Landy. Dead ringer

Re: Pick 30 - Jake Batchelor

I was suprised Jake got the gig.
Watching the ganme for the second time I was suprised how many times he got a hand
in to block divert a handpass.

Re: Pick 30 - Jake Batchelor

I reckon it was his best game last night, rock. Slid all night, no *smile* ups, just mr dependable :clap

Re: Pick 30 - Jake Batchelor

he's a cheeky fella, clearly found NAB a tedious waste of time, beneath him.

am *slightly* concerned about his lack of toe, but geez we can't have it all.

on ya batch. on this form petterd could be brick walled for a few weeks.

Batchelor played pretty well last night. Like others he surprised me and should keep his spot.
Could see Petterd putting pressure on other spots of players though who didn't play so well namely Ellis and Newman.

interesting call ToO.

can't say I disagree on pure numbers. Ellis is special but at his phase of development a stint in the magoos won't do any harm.

newman -- well, it wasn't raining possies, and I think his mobility has degenerated rapidly over the last two years, but he really did one or two classy things last night.

newmo makes bad disposal look good. we benefit from the polished touches he does get. too early to call last drinks.

Maybe. I've been a huge fan of Chris but he was barely sighted when the heat was on last night and as a now veteran player he has to do more IMO to keep his spot. Now struggling to keep up with the pace. Won't be dropped yet but he's no longer a walk up start.

Re: Pick 30 - Jake Batchelor

.... the way he moved I kept seeing Joel Bowden in him. Great game - real confidence booster for him and his team mates.

Article on the AFL site suggests Chocco has been working hard on Batch's ball drop re kicking. Good to hear.
Well that's great news because despite the fact that his kicking is generally pretty good - I hate that ball-dropping action.
It can't hurt and will most likely help if Chocco brings him back to a more conventional style.

Re: Pick 30 - Jake Batchelor

Always hard to tell from the outside but hearing all the right things about Chocco. That's from what others say about him and the way he speaks himself too. His clips about the youngsters are must see viewing. Was very excited when we got him on board, even more excited now. I think it's good having someone of his character on the coaching panel, some players will really connect with him. Hardwick, Lade, Leppa seems like good but calm and measured characters. Chocco is the eccentric guy that will relate to some players that might not have created a bond with the other coaches I reckon. You will always have a wide variety of characters at a footy club, good to have a bit of variety in the coaching ranks too.

Batchelor was near worst on for us tonight. Still have major concerns.

Huge gap between his best and worst. Great last week, poor tonight.

Think you can blame the coaching staff more for his game than Batch.

Playing him all game on Maister (192cm off the top of my head) is not smart. He plays his best football as the drop off player intercepting marks, Petterd took that role tonight.

Re: Pick 30 - Jake Batchelor

If Batch was matched up on Maister then I am amazed.

Thought Chaplin was the man for him.

Maister is a bloody strong bloke. Too strong for Batch I'd have thought.

Maybe they thought Btach could run off him and expose him. But it was a fair gamble.

Petterd should take Batchelor's role in the team.

That will be a question for the coaching staff.

Let's not quickly forget how good Batchelor was in round 1.

Nope - some of those marks he absoultely gave away to his opponents tonight was so soft he needs to wake up to. He along with every other player needs to perform. He didnt tonight. Will be lucky to make the team next week. Dont get me wrong i like him but he is too hot and cold - a bit like s edwards.
