Hardwick obviously sees something in Batchelor that you and some others don't.

Hi, TOO. I was going to start a thread about this sort of comment, but decided not to. Do you think that this sort of line trumps any criticism of any player. I have seen it used many times. Like if player X has a series of shockers but keeps playing the haters say should be dropped, dud delist and so on. The happy posters sometimes say well Dimma knows more than you.

It's an interesting approach I think.

I suspect the Happy Posters might even be correct.

Re: Pick 30 - Jake Batchelor

Massive fan, however think his played 2 of his poorer games in the Nab.... Who cares everyone has a Barry crocker or 2

So using the "happy poster's" logic - did Gieschen, Frawley & Wallace also know better?

Re: Pick 30 - Jake Batchelor

After doing some good things in the midfield early he dropped off a fair bit making some uncharacteristic errors.

I think we need him more down back for the moment.

So using the "happy posters logic" - Gieshen, Frawley and Wallace probably knew the players more than you and me combined. ;D

Re: Pick 30 - Jake Batchelor

Given some of the rubbish we've had on our list over the last 20-30 years Batchelor is a gold nugget. He still makes mistakes and his kicking can be a bit sloppy, but he's only a second year player and still learning the game. In terms of composure he reminds me of Newman. I accept that he's a different body shape and a bit taller than the Captain. I think he could become a really damaging half back. I appreciate that the call is for him to run through the middle.

Re: Pick 30 - Jake Batchelor

Don't have a problem with him having his football education rounded out in another position during the NAB Cup.

Re: Pick 30 - Jake Batchelor

Good to see Jake back to HB against Geelong. Midfield experiment over. Looked 1000 times better. Composed and reliable with not many errors.

Looks like the coaching staff have been reading PRE ey.

Agree. Still pushed up and got involved forward of centre but he is a back line footballer. And a very good one at that.

Agree looked a different player. Is a general in the back half. Perhaps he can have short stints in the midfield over the next few years and see what happens. But primarily is a HBFer

Give him time and he'll play both.

He's got the brains and skill.

Thought he was average today.
played a very good game batch did, very impressed with his game along with the rest of the back half in grimes, rance, post, newy, houli etc

Re: Pick 30 - Jake Batchelor

Hasnt cemented his spot in the side I don't think. Made some silly kicking errors. All our other defenders played better than he and seeing we now have healthy competition for spots, he should be one under pressure for round 1.

Re: Pick 30 - Jake Batchelor

Has to play HBF Rd 1 because of his height. Otherwise Lids has to go back and that would just p everyone off. Helbig played OK against Geelong but sirely there not going to throw him into that role so soon. Lids has to line up on Judd at the centre bounce and only go back if all hell breaks loose.
