Geez, in the other thread Griffiths is the next Wayne Carey/Lance Franklin.

In this one Batchelor might win a brownlow.

Very odd to see supporters talking up our players.

Re: Pick 30 - Jake Batchelor

Played a lot of his junior football in defence so it's not really surprising that Batchelor has looked so assured and composed. (All) Experience counts, particularly for defenders.

We'd do well to look at drafting more specialist defenders like Batchelor rather than trying to turn failed midfielders or forwards into backmen.

100% Agree, same applies to the forward line too I think. Draft medium sized forwards with good goal sense, not midfielders who lack a tank to rest up in the forward line.

Well done Jake on your nomination. :clap

10 goals to Griff this weekend and we'll have two nominations in a row.

Re: Pick 30 - Jake Batchelor

Who said we cant draft any good kids after pick5??? :clap

Re: Pick 30 - Jake Batchelor

Deserves a nomination as few players step into AFL in the cool, no-nonsense way Jake has.

Good pick - good size, nice skills and looks a genuine footballer.

Good summary of a very good footballer. Shows that you can draft skilled players outside the top 10.

Re: Pick 30 - Jake Batchelor

Love the kids composure, possibly see him been a better skilled Maxwell....pencil the lad in for 200 games and the label of Mr consistent

Re: Pick 30 - Jake Batchelor

Tough ask for a first year playing in our backline...he's done well. :clap

Re: Pick 30 - Jake Batchelor

I've said it before but christ he reminds me of Graeme Landy

Re: Pick 30 - Jake Batchelor

Going to be a very good footballer. I can't peg him for anyone he really reminds of. Maybe a little Heath Scotland in him but he is a good sort.

On Saturday night there was a passage through the middle that was the future. Quick hands to Conca who is under the pump, great little give to Helbig who runs hard to support, little clean give to Batchelor who hits up Riewoldt on the lead. It was a short passage but it was quick, clean, football under pressure by three teenagers.

Have already gone out on a limb much earlier in this thread and said he'll be even better than that CC. Plays the angles like few others - seems to be intuitive for him - up there with our best picks - may even become out best in a long time.

Re: Pick 30 - Jake Batchelor

Well done Sammy Spade. Someone compared him to Scott McIvor earlier this year. Not a bad comparison. Our boy's cold-blooded, I like that.

Re: Pick 30 - Jake Batchelor

Gotta say I was shocked when I seen this .........guess being thumped didn't have an effect on the vote this week, which is nice.

Congrats to Jakey the Single man, like what I've seen of this kid so far.
