Jake Batchelor

Re: Pick 30 - Jake Batchelor

Showing exactly what I saw in him as a junior, back in 2009.

Doubt it, I reckon Conca has a better chance of it getting it.

He clearly deserves one, that is for sure.

And if he keeps going, I reckon he will run it very close at the ned of the season too.

Reminds me of Tape and Rogers. Not much polish but fir real and a massive and precocious competitor. Will play 100+ games with below average improvement.

If he can tidy up he could be somebody special. Just a lad.

I said very early on, this kid seems to have a great knowledge of angles - gives off really well, but it's his subsequent gets that are sometimes all class, thus creating time and poise to deliver, which thankfully he does really well too.

Re: Pick 30 - Jake Batchelor

Conca and Batchelor, what excellent pickups. Ready made players already making great impacts. Batchelor 23 possessins and Conca 24 possessions. Can you ask for anything more from 2 x 6 gamers?

Re: Pick 30 - Jake Batchelor

Good to see that with both Jake and Conca that Richmond are starting to recruit kids that have football brains and are not just athletes that they hope to turn into footballers.

Who? Thought he looked great at 31 from the highlight reels at least.

There is some quality posts on him at the start of this thread and on the juniors page.

Magic compared his kicking to Duncan Kellaway
Several expressed shock and disappointment we took him so early, preferring Parker Mitchell or mcartney.

And of course Allybaby spat the dummy :hihi

Great game last night. Mops up beautifully off half back.

Merv Keane anyone??

Good call. He looks composed and is a good decision maker like Merv.
Merv had better hair though.

Re: Pick 30 - Jake Batchelor

Reminds me of Mark Browning a South Melbourne/Sydney Swans player who was cool, had good left foot disposal and became Captain of the club.
Excellent start from young Jacob

Re: Pick 30 - Jake Batchelor

agree with most here.
Batchelor 'looks' like a footballer. i remember thinking that watching him in a pre-season game.
hopefully he grows a little more and keeps his agility, will make him a very valuable, versatile part of the backline. already he is given roles on talls at times.
as others have said he looks like a player who, whilst he may not be a superstar, will play a lot of good football.

Re: Pick 30 - Jake Batchelor

One of the guys on SEN said he plays like a 100 gamer already. I reckon he is spot on.

Re: Pick 30 - Jake Batchelor

Nice solid build for a teenager and he will just keep on getting better. Pretty consistant and uses his body well in the contest. I thought he was a matue age pick when I first saw him.

I know that Collingwood had Batchelor locked in for one of there picks in the 40's.

Hopefully he can step up pretty quickly.

Can see why the Pies were interested Scooper. Right up their alley.
Glad he's ours.

Re: Pick 30 - Jake Batchelor

Has an appetite for the physicality and the ability to execute offensively. A bit of an assassin I reckon, capable of garotting someone in a phone box or using the scope to take them out from a mile away.
