Wonder how much influence Rance has had on Batch, Batch is starting to play a lot like Rance : :

Good point - he is looking very strong and never shirks a contest!

Big improver - just needs to eliminate the odd poor kick.

Going To be a very solid player for many years without being spectacular, he is going well.

I don't think we'll be seeing him in this thread this weekend.
Also Diggler has just registered on the bluebaggers' forum and bummerblitz to flog his caravan park deals this september.

Good for him. I haven't missed the troll and his twin this year at all.

No one kicks goals on Batch. Anyone get stats for this? Please. I don't think he is recognized for his role and how good he is for the other boys.

An article on the AFL website answers this for you. Jake has conceded 16 goals in 17 games. Conceded less goals than Rance (19 in 17) but that's not the best comparison to make.

Not sure how accurate those stats could possibly be with many defenders playing zone defence and constantly changing opponents, play by play?
Plus swapping opponents because of interchanging of the forwards and defenders.

Yep, sorry for sullying the Batchelor thread with mention of him. How good were a couple of Batch's intercept marks on Friday night? He was always a decent mark, but taken it to a new level this year. Dimma said on his dissections that the marking of the entire back 6 has been an absolute feature this year.

Doing his job that is all he has to do.
Could we do better most likely, but he's going ok ak this stage.
Batchelor is quite good and versatile, playing on tall or quick players he generally shuts them down, and is a good intercept mark. He's played a lot of games for a relatively anomomous young bloke, 70 coming up in 5 years

Good stats for goals against per game. 1.14. Considering going he has been given roles against smalls and talls. Rance comes in at 1.15 excellent against afl best.

Looks like I was wrong to put a line through Batch. Going great. Keeps improving slowly and steadily.

If so - hope he's gets a better result in a GF.

Same same.. Graeme Landy was a middle tier player we recruited from Geelong who were not fussed about losing him. As time went on he became a crucial half back who always took the right option, never made an error and never lowered his colors. Like Batch he was in a back line that was one of the best in the business along side Bourke, Jess, Malthouse, Dunne and Keane.
Batches size, kicking style, Marking, pressure and preference to shy from lime light and ever growing reliability are remarkably similar to Landy.

Ahhh Merv Keane and Jimmy Jess two of my favourite Tigers along with Disco Roach.
Yep. Keane was perhaps my favourite Tiger in that amazing period. Toss up between him and Bourke for me.
