Jake Batchelor

Has really matured this year.
Not a bad defensive unit with him as your 4th best defender. The pressure from further up the ground is really helping him, but without question he has improved.

No one kicks goals on Batch. Anyone get stats for this? Please. I don't think he is recognized for his role and how good he is for the other boys.

Tonight he got it all together and played Breust out of the game. You can't ask for more
Commentators were asking what had happened to Breust all night, and then late in the game one of them mentions how Batchelor is underrated. There's the answer to their Breust question. He was Batched.

saved me from saying it. Batch does it again.

I thought he was on Roughy a bit as well. Neither he or Breust did anything.

Batch had a great defensive game. Still get nervous when he has the ball; he made a couple of howlers in the 2nd quarter.

:hihi

I was a fan early in his career, then I dropped off due to goals kicked on him an would have had him playin VFL earlier this year...very happy to be wrong as he's become a very important cog down back...good work Batch

Not the quickest around Batch but he's a very smart footballer. I think that's been the key to our backline, guys like Batch, Rance, Chaplin are all top-notch readers of the ball and always seem to be in the right positions. We have the best backline.

Just does his job and shutdown his man. Will never be a high possession winner because his man rarely gets involved with the play. Super strong mark in the last when the Hawks had a bit of a run about them.

Makes up for his lack of speed with his great reading of the ball in play.

I was the same - big fan early then thought he wouldn't make it but started to change my mind last year.

He is only 23 and has now entered that 50 to 100 games where you expect a player to be a solid contributor - has played 69 games now.

Still butchers the occasional kick, but he's gotten better at doing the little things, he can play on bigger blokes as well as smaller ones now and his marking has improved out of sight.

Wonder how much influence Rance has had on Batch, Batch is starting to play a lot like Rance : :
