Jake Batchelor

For mine been adequate and that's all. Shining light...I don't think so. Why the hell does he come up with these outlandish statements??

External commentators have complimented Batch on his performance, so can't be just Hardwick.

Personally I don't think Batch has been our worst this year, but to be honest, if he is a Shinning Light in the team, it is more a sad indictment of the rest of them

Shane Edwards is the natural shining light. Batchelor might be a goldfish bowl of phosphorescent plankton. Who wouldn't prefer a goldfish?

I dont mind the Batch but gee his kicking is poor, often very costly, like his tough hard at it approach but always hold my breathe on his disposals, definitely not in a top 4 team IMO, good depth player

According to *smile* he has a "really damaging left boot" :spin

Again makes me question Hardwick's judgement of a player.

Agree.

Agree.
As ToO said it must have meant damaging to the Tigers, because it certainly hasn't caused a lot of pain for the opposition. I sometimes wonder if they let him mark the ball, because they know they'll soon be regaining possession.

Still made a few really bad decisions. When he was outmarked by Swan instead of punching the ball was really poor. I think he needs to be replaced ASAP.

Another of our weak links. He's a very mediocre footballer who's giving his best. If we're going to get better then we need to do better than Batchelor.

In the Gordon category for me Tooheys. Seen enough.

Yeah agree a decent depth player that should only play 1-5 games a year depending on injuries..

That was one. The mark he dropped from the Rance kick was another. Then there was the decision to take the ball over the boundary, when he had Chaplin behind him waiting to clear the ball. He's a good mark most of the time, but that's about it. Lacks decision making skills and not a great kick.

yeah, is probably getting a game due to lack of mid backs.

if dea gets his *smile* together at AFL level I see far more upside.

i remember seeing him line up on Swan and was glad we had a good matchup. I thought he is big and strong enough to not be outmarked by Swan. perhaps he thought the same.

the dropped mark from Rance was excusable. I dont think he expected the pass in the end, Rance took off the other direction then swung the kick around his body and drilled a stab pass at him. i think Batchelor might have been a little surprised.

i dont think Batchelor provides enough run for the role he plays but credit must go to him for trying. last week he got a goal from a mark after running forward. this week he was involved in a play in the middle of the ground, and then got involved again in the goal square before we kicked a goal. cant remember who kicked it, but it was 3rd quarter and ended in a chain of handballs nearish the goals. it was good play. he needs to do more of this.

Have to upgrade Jake. He is flat footed when the ball comes it fast. Nearly cost us the game.
