Jake Batchelor

absolute wasted three easy opportunities to kick to players in the clear..his kicking is terrible....like to see elton or grimes come in..sorry batch

I'm moving on.

Shouldn't play next week and afraid not up to it.

Grimes is more versatile.

Batchelor is depth only.

It's not a great choice, though. Batchelor fights hard and can take a decent mark, but he can't kick and makes bad decisions. Grimes on the other hand has yet to deliver on the promise he showed earlier, and I doubt that he will.

had the ball on the wing.. was running out of defense, beautifully poised to use his left foot and just hacked the ball about as poorly as you can kick it under little immediate pressure.... a collective sigh from the faithful at the G on Saturday. Richmond delivery, our ball skills have gone backwards. I was looking for Richo out there as we delivered poor kick after poor kick

hes hanging on by a thread...sadly hes not a worst this year.
I think the physical comedy act that Steven Morris has turned into has allowed him to escape a lot of scrutiny. He reminds me of McGuane, heaps of heart and determination, almost no skill.

I'm putting up the shutters.

The bachelor party is over.

Was a big fan in his first two years.

Now he is still reasonably solid in the air but very, very untidy with his delivery by hand and foot.

Pains me to say it, but unfortunately I have to cut him loose.

Will not play a part in flag 11.

Same here, Carts. Unfortunately that first couple of years was as good as it got and now the bad habits are probably too ingrained to break. He can take a good strong grab, but it's not much good doing that in defence if your kick is likely to turn it over to the opposition. We've got holes galore to plug.

I watched the last quarter of the geelong game during the week and I was surprised at the way batch took the game on. Sure he got caught and looked silly a few times but he was one of the few not relying on others to get our game started. I still think there's potential there.

Welcome aboard Carts.

Again like Morris needs to head back to VFL for more reasons then one, but simply must re invent himself...again like Stevie has another year to run on contract

I think Batchelor has reinvented himself already. The question is, was that the correct decision by the club. He looked to have a very promising future in his first year, and things went wrong after that. I'd prefer to see him strip down more weight and get more mobile than he is, and play as a rebounding defender.

I think the club has seen him as a Joel Bowden type, and tried to make him one, rather than let him be Jake Batchelor. Still has something to offer *if* we used him the right way.

as what, do you think?

he is not quite big enough to play week in week out as the 3rd tall. he is not quick enough or skilled enough to play as a rebounding defender.
i reckon if he played in a defence that had 4 or 5 good rebounders he might be ok as a tough medium defender, but with our lack of run we cant afford him on the half back flank.

dont mind him in the vfl as backup but he shouldnt be playing every week.
forward? meh. dont think any team can afford to carry a not quick medium forward unless they are super smart and deadly around goals.
